I m not sure if i was successful in starting a new topic this morning but i ll try again.

Im looking to buy a Leyland Hippo. My father drove one at Dinorwig Quarry North Wales about 1967-69 carrying slate from the top of the quarry down to the saw mill at the bottom. It was registered something like Dcc 309e and the second hippo working was I think 310e

Wasn't the quarry Dinorwic and the power station Dinorwig?

From Wikipedia, not always the most reliable source of information, yes

However perhaps just down to timing given

The name Porthmadog derives from its English spelling, Portmadoc, the official name until 1974.

and construction of Dinorwig Power Station began in 1974 with the opening date 1984.

I remember seeing an early Open University programme on Dinorwig, presented by a young civil engineer called Carol Vorderman ...

Just to update, I have done a deal for the purchase of a Leyland Hippo

I can collect the vehicle myself. I drive for O G Owen Transport from Anglesey.

Hopefully, I can collect before the end of May.

Then the work begins.

Thanks to Olivedrabsteptoe for the heads up.
