0 john fox
Plus a good chance of having it siezed now by customs.. the Sale, Manufacture & Importation of RIF'S ( Realistic Imitation Firearms) is now illegal under the VCR act 2006 so how do you sell them then??? 0 Marmite!!
so how do you sell them then??? I don't sell the guns, I convert existing replicas.. won't touch deacs... When the vcr act is fully implemented near the end of the year (October) you won't be able to Sell, Manufacture & Import RIF's, they are still arguing over the definition of RIF's at the moment.. deacs are unaffected by the act, there is a defence in law to own RIF's by certain parties... it's all in the VCR Act 2006
0 Tony B
Back to these bloody 'Guidelines' ie make up as you go along. the primary will probably that other good old standby 'Good Reason'. Membership of a recognised group with 3rd party liability insurance should be good reason. Unless your really stupid the local force will have better things to worry about. 0 Marmite!!
Look at the act... the law relates to what the gun looks like not what it does... under the act when implemented wooden RIF's & airsoft RIF's as well as realistic blank firers will be affected... 0 Marmite!!
Due to be Implemented 1st October 2007 Imitation firearms Section 36 - Manufacture, import and sale of realistic imitation firearms A person is guilty of an offence if (a) he manufactures a realistic imitation firearm; (b) he modifies an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm; © he sells a realistic imitation firearm; or (d) he brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to be brought into Great Britain. Any realistic imitation firearm brought into the UK shall be liable to forfeiture under the Customs and Excise ActsGuidance - Regulations are likely to follow outlining finer details and possible exemptions e.g. for imitations to be brought into the UK for air soft skirmishing sports and for producing blank firing devices for dog training. There may also be technical specifications produced in relation to design and a requirement for items to be a certain colour to prevent new items resembling a realistic imitation. Specific defences for recognised activities are detailed in the section below. Importations of realistic imitation firearms for specific purposes are likely to need an import permit. HM Customs and the Dept of Trade and Industry will produce guidance later this year.

0 garry taylor
dont most modern blank fire guns, have nothing coming out the end at all....i know mine does not, no flash from the barral, ( totaly blocked) everything out the side or the top vents...a lot less chance of blinding somone with these than, real firearms that are firing blanks ( eg in the Army)
0 Tony B
The top vent, blocked barrel rule came out some years ago in the England and Wales. Scotland now does it own thing, Norterhn Ireland had had it's own restrications for many years. There are execptons for Athletic starting pistols and dummy launchers (For traing Gun Dogs). Film and stage work also has diffrent rules. The whole thing is a very complex mess, even Fire arms officers cannot keep up with all of it. 0 Big ray
PLUS. Never, never, ever point a loaded weapon - even with blanks at anyone or anything. Some people presume a blank is harmless - not so - seen many serious injuries with blanks. They do fire projectiles and can give a serious burn. Not saying you would and don't want to teach people to suck eggs - but some people are very blase about blank weapons. Markheliops We had a guy blinded in Germany in the 1950s from a blank firing 303, all very dangerous in the wrong hands, as they say.... if it can happen, it will happen.
