monty2
We went to Bletchley park after hearing many interesting stories. Very impressive peace of work bij Alan Turing. Most of you will not know but Mick Jagger has great interest in code breaking he owns a 4 wheel enigma and directed "the imitation game" film. The long term restoration plan for Bletchley

Not sure who told you that, but Morten Tyldum directed "The Imitation Game", Mr. Jagger might own a Enigma machine, but he neither directed nor produced that film. Mr. Jagger was one of dozen or so producers of a film called 'Enigma' in 2001, though he did not direct that either. jh
Tony B
Collosus, built by Tom Flowers was the worlds first programmable electronic computer. starting with about 1800 valves, then building up to 2000+. 10 or 11 were built, the last one may have been used at GCHQ till the 1960's. They were not built to brack Enigma (no pun intended) but the Gehimeschriber or Secret Writer, know to the Allies as the Tunny code. This was used to pass high level stratgic traffic. There is eveidence that the USSR captured a number of these machines and because they were 'Unbreakcable' blissfully continued to use them. :cool2:
andym
The National Museum of Computing is also worth a visit. It's a shame the two halves of the site seem to be engaged in a civil war with each other. Andy
