w896andy
My guess is that the Loco weights a little more than the 2 1/2 tons the USA stamped on the truck !! Guessing nearer 10 tons ? Andy

Locolines
Seriously though I can't believe the fella is standing in the loco still. Brave ,or mad , or is it that he knows he is safe with a Jimmy?

I know !! I wouldn't want to be going more than a crawl round most corners with the centre of gravity as high as it must be with that load ! Big ray
The truck is even the split axle model, the weakest axles...... theres confidence for you.!!!
deadline
Great photo! Seeing that it has a license plate on the rear drivers side I would assume that this is not in military service... that and the dump bed is non-standard, and other bits that are not quite right. My guess would be that the fuel tank was ruptured long ago, and an something elese was rigged up (most likely betrween the frame rails a'la the Chevy 1.5 Ton. Great photo. Remember the CCKW was *always* rated for 10,000lbs of cargo, just limited to 5,000lbs for cross country driving. I've seen a CCKW loaded down so much that the frame was riding on the axles/bumpers with no ill effects.

N.O.S.
I thought that a double wheeler was a 5 tonner. Thinking about it, you're correct - 2.5 Ton off road, 5T on. I think I suggested last time round that the loco was around 4 to 4.5 Ton :-D
