Hi All, I'm rebuilding a 1943 Dodge WC51 for my wife (sounds like a fair Swap)

Can anyone tell me the lengths of wood used in the roof hoops, both up and across.

They will acept currency or a money order. Takes about 4 to 6 weeks. E mail first and they will check whether they have the exact record or only close. Fortunatley for me my two exact records exist.

The engine should be painted smoky white (see pic), not the green it has now. I believe that colour was used post war when rebuilding them.

Good luck,

So? A lot of Dodges saw action poast WW2. Korea, the Sahara, India, Israel. Why does it have to be WW2 spec?

We did the woodwork, I made up the Bowes to my own spec......

The seats and backs are as close as I can get with local materials.

I got hold of a overhauled Carter Ball&Ball ETW 1 carburettor, just like the one in your WC51, and it had been renovated by the Norwegian army in 1983. It sported exactly the same really ugly green colour.

Looking good. I am at about the same stage with the restoration of my WC-52, tackling the wood bits of the bed. I need to fabricate the benches and uprights from scratch as well, some good inspiration here.

Thanks, I got the metal pieces from Wildenberg in Beltring. Countersunk slot heads locally. Diamensions on the wood from the site mentioned in this thread.

(Now for the funny)

WC52....Thats like our truck with a wench on the front..... How useful is that.

I've been wondering about the metal bits for the benches, if I should try to fabricate them myself or perhaps order from John at Midwest. Might be cheaper to get from Wildenberg if he has them as well. That site with all the dimensions is great, I've just used the drawings from there to make the floor boards.

Davs Peter,

What kind of wood did you use for the floor boards, oak?

My WC51 is coming along slowly but surely and we're aiming to pick it up in June, hopefully. I'll be taking it on a shake down cruise around the Battle of the Bulge areas in Belgium for about a week, together with my new Willy's MBT, before heading home to Stockholm.
