richardrosser
Sir Paul Connor of Brightlingstone and Tunnel Rat owe me!! Well guys you have set the bug off in me big time lol, went out last weekend to some of the ROC shelters in and around Kent. Great fun at Hamstreet cutting through brambles, my hands look like I have had a fight with a tom cat! Also went back to the site at Dover, the battery plotting room and found 2 underground magazines – no 1 and no 2 guns. Can’t wait till the new year down the hatch (ROC post) http://img330.imageshack.us/img330/1690/dscf0049ya4.jpg[/img] looking from inside to the exit (ROC post) http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/872/dscf0056fr1.jpg[/img] No 2 magazine at dover (storeage room) http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/8586/dscf0123vx9.jpg[/img] No 2 magazine at Dover (entrance) http://img465.imageshack.us/img465/5992/dscf0116qw6.jpg[/img] and Andy don't forget if your at a loose end....... richardrosser
hi Jack, the ROC post was opened in November 1961 and closed in September 1991, the gun magazines date from WWII ;-)

fv1609
Lots of ROC all over the Uk, most are the same, if you are lucky they are still equipped! I know of two people who own ROC posts which they are trying to re-equip/conserve. Sadly the posts have been subject to attack with sledge hammers & angle grinders in attempts to gain entry to their property. I am sure none of you would do that, but unfortunately there are some who would stop at nothing to break in.

Trouble is I don't like narrow places, I have been round the catacombs of Exeter & Paris was fascinated. Also some RSGs & I have a copy of the Committe of 100 publication in 1960s of the details of all RSGs. I remember the Devon one was Kingsbridge 2611, I use to ring it up when I was a schoolboy. Tunnel_Rat
Richard and myself had a good wander around today, blatantly drove into the dis-used army barracks, hoping to have a look around, but our hopes were dashed by a Gurkha security fellow.
