ferrettkitt
I have four or five of those CVRT side tents they all have a similar problem stiff zips what is the best way of lubricating them? I had thought about using a silicon based lubricant like WD40 is that the best way to go?
Tony B
Good old 3 in 1 works well. Petroleum jelly , a thin touch of copper grease? Funny enough on plastic zips and componets I was taught years ago to use bitter or margarine. Edited June 5, 2011 by Tony B
Richard Farrant
I was taught years ago to use bitter . Bitter ? Could you use lager or mild if unavailable?

Tony B
So the lsit will be 1 x small tub of marge, and large numbers of various types of beer. For trial purposes only of course. (you lot aren't going to let me forget this are you:blush: )
barrynevuk
I was told that the best way to lube zips was to use a graphite pencil lead. I think this is great on small metal zips, but you may need a few pencils for large long zips. If you use a liquid lube, I would be careful as it may attract dust, also they may be messy on clothing if you are using the tents.
protruck
What about good old candle wax. no mess. Clive

Timinder
Oh, and WD40 doesn't have silicon(e) in it!
Essex5
I would try a silicone dry-lube spray, available from RS, Maplin, etc. John
Turret_Monster
I've used fresh engine oil in an emergency on a very stiff one without it doing it any harm (yet).
