andym
Both the book and the DirectGov reference imply that the test is taken on the road - mine wasn't! Andy
Degsy
It wouldn't would it, I assume it would be in a swimming pool:D and that Case tractor pictured on the front of the book must be very rare, never seen a submersible tractor.
xtreme
Took my H test the other day with terry brooks It was taken on the road . tested as you would if it was your car test , emergency stop/3 point turn etc. Terry brooks was very helpful and the whole day was very informative and good fun would highly recommend terry brooks for your test. Lewis Garner
We've put a reply elsewhere on the forum about this subject, dad took his test at Terry Brooks' place. It's ideal for the test because its a mix of a bit of private road, quiet industrial estate and a 400m of public road. Terry is a top bloke and the local examiners are helpful and dedicated to you passing. Because of the distance from home, dad travelled down the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn just 300m from Terry's place. Let me allay anyones fears, the test is easy, you would have to be extremely incompetent and lose control to fail. Best regards to everyone and good luck to you doing the test Edited September 27, 2010 by Lewis Garner
shatters
Just copied this off the directgov website - Category H To drive a tracked vehicle you will need to hold a full category B (car) licence. Any vehicle used for category H tests must have adequate all-round visibility to enable the driver to carry out manoeuvres and deal with junctions safely. Any vehicle requiring a second person to help with observation, such as a military vehicle, is not suitable for test purposes. Is this new ? Phil That was in when I did my test - we took them in FV432s. The examiner just advised to stand up if necessary when pulling away from a stop etc to make sure you could see past the stowed driver's hatch - otherwise no problems. Obviously if you're not convinced you can drive safely on your own you shouldn't be testing in it! We also took ours off-road, incidentally, as the vehicle used wasn't road-registered. Lewis Garner
terry brooks trains you in his scorpion, observations are easy and it has big mirrors for the rear view. I'd suggest a days training and you will feel confidant with the vehicle. Terry has been doing this for a long time and inspires you with confidence, he knows exactly what is required of you for the test and the examiners are well known from the local DSA office. They are dedicated to getting you through the test safely. I think terry charges about £500 best regards
