plastic constructor Posted December 27, 2009 Share Posted December 27, 2009 Here's a photo of a converted 18t Famo taken in Hamburg shortly after WWII ... ... equipped with a Bilstein crane. I read somewhere that this vehicle was painted red and was used by the local Feuerwehr. Does anyone have further photographs of this beast, it's an ideal subject for a military model, and it would be slightly controversial being painted red. Nick. The Famo is 18 tons - not 8 tons like the Krauss-Maffei or Bussing NAG Sd.Kfz.7 which generally did the towing as per Airfix and Tamiya memories. There was a lovely one at Beltring this summer. ford 369 Posted January 7, 2010 Share Posted January 7, 2010 I seem to remember there are something like 11 Famos either restored or under restoration worldwide,Kevin Wheatcroft has a restored one and I think 1 more for resto and the Brussels tank museum has 3 I think plus the august 1944 museum in Falaise has a running example that was out last summer for the D Day anniversary. The Wheatcroft Famo has been there in earlier years.
