  1. Artists Rifles as in the London Regiment, I found the picture he posted:
  2. Witham after the village where Paul Southerington lived, no 'h' and no 's' on the end. Originally Witham Landscapes then Witham Specialist Vehicles. I suspect they are in poor condition as they clearly state for offroad or site use. https://bid.mod-sales.com/auctions/7671/witham10112/lot-details/09bec7d6-32c3-4f25-aef0-ac9800c72375
  3. IIRC it was member 'Artists Rifles' who found a source for the mounts. There was a picture on his Militant thread. All 4 versions of the Martian had the ball mounts as did many Militants and Constructors. Don't remember seeing them on Antars or later RLs as mentioned above.
  4. Hi Steve, There are a couple on the show circuit but not belonging to anyone I know. https://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p671095361/h2d19c300#h1f90fc04
  5. Have you looked at 1" x 16 tpi UNS? LH may be an issue.
  6. Cannot help with the dimensions but this will give you an idea of the style: https://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p671095361/h2d19c300#h2d19c300 Which version do you have, there was a 10 ton GS cargo FV1121 as per the link, a long wheel base version and a tractor, GS for 8" howitzer FV1122 that had a full length canvas tilt at almost the same height as the cab roof? This is my old one, bought from Witham in 1988 with just 1200 miles on the clock and never had a load in the back. Edit. Apologies, I completely missed 'artillery' in the title'.
  7. From the Rolls Royce Motors servicing manual 1972:
  8. It still goes on, some clamp on battery terminals are 5/16" BSF and until fairly recently seat belt mountings had to be 7/16" UNF. Tyres are another anomaly, the width is metric and the hole in the middle is imperial although in the 1980s Ford, Jaguar, Mercedes and various French cars used fully metric tyres on some models but it did not catch on.
  9. Taken from the vehicle manual: Tractor-limber, wheeled, GS FH70, 10 tonne, 6x6, w/crane, Foden
  10. So what was the outcome, did they decide a scotch egg was a meal?
  11. Could you get away with a 16mm x 150, head diameter would be circa 38mm?
  12. DVLA have it as first reg in in March '83 and built in 1941, info could be wrong and it could be that it managed to retain its original reg number. Back in 1983 when the LVLOs were in existance it was easy to pull the wool over their eyes with no vehicle checks.
  13. Hi Ted, I assume you meant an 8 stud wheel🎱?
  14. Complete with jib man to refit the cables when they come off the pulleys.😬
  15. Agreed, the Carlos Fandango rear wheels are quite striking though.
  16. Great memories from the late 80's when Roger and Pete worked in the big shed at Bordon where during the winter it was 10 degrees colder than out in the open.
  17. I very much doubt there will be a problem with petrol in our lifetime, as long as there is a market for Kerosene (planes and central heating), Diesel (trucks and plant), Fuel oil (ships), Bitumen (various) it will all come from the partial distillation of crude oil and the last liquid product is petrol.
  18. Some good points there John, as I read it a DROPS would need four front tyres and in the case of the IMM Foden they are over £3k each.
  19. I'm surprised they have not gone a step further and banned remoulds on the front axle where there is no knowing how old the carcass is.
  20. Thinking aloud, D1 minibus licence covers vehicles with 9-16 seats and there is no stipulation that it has to have wheels or tracks. So long as you are over 21 and passengers are not carried for hire or reward a D1 is not required but there is a stumbling block in that the vehicle must weigh under 3.5 tons or slightly more if fitted with aids for the disabled. 12 seat Landrovers were often converted to non minibuses simply by removing the cushions from the rear side mounted seats, would it be possible in the case of a 432?
  21. Is that the place in the Banbury area, a friend of mine speaks highly of them?
  22. Thanks Rob, I looked at dozens of Militants at Vass, some had 14.00, some had 15.00 but I don't recall ever seeing a tanker. Agree about the weight, I had to swap 4 wheels and tyres when I bought my Martian, the ply rating also makes a huge difference to the weight.
  23. That looks like a 15.00x20 which although was often fitted in service is a size up from the standard 14.00x20.
