  1. Didnt get any of the Mog fishing was to busy making sure he didnt lose his catch. Gumpy had a couple of me loading it in the yard and some one must have some from the show. :dunno: Tempting as it may be i would be a pain letting the dogs out! Roll on Beltring! :-D
  2. Use it and let the kids climb all over it!
  3. Recon engines on the frame have been found to almost thrown together. One example on 2.5na was a timing case fully assembled, including water pump ect and the belt tensioner was loose inside. Another had water in the bores and badly rusted yet looked as good as new on the outside on its re-build frame. Its just a case of buyer beware.
  4. Would be wary of any engine from Withams, i know of several people now who have been disapointed with Landrover and jag engines. They would need a good look over as they are sold as seen.
  5. Hello MC! Looks like it might not be around for long as Si has been lured to the Militant way and has his eye on a Mk3! :-D Wish someone got a picture of Grumpy and Dave playing wacky racers up the hill on the way home!
  6. You need to remove the end of the passengers side dash that covers the wiper motor. Remove the plastic trim that sits around the lip of the lower dash tray then the end cover can be un screwed. I would also check the switch as they can get warm and the plastic melts around the contacts. Jon.
  7. The trip down to Kemble was a pre Beltring warm up run as Grumpy had never took the Militant much more than 5 miles from the yard. In a mad rush it was stripped and painted in the 3 days before we left on Friday then fixed the clutch on Friday afternoon 2 hours before we left in a down pour! http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00066.jpg[/img] Traveled down with Simon Stolly in the TM with his Mog on the back. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00068.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00051.jpg[/img] Grumpys and Militant Grahams together. On Saturday we a had a go at using Grahams 10 ton Recovery Dolly to recover the Militant. Its the first time Graham had used it to pick up something so it was a case of trial and error. :-D http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00053.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00055.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00054.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00057.jpg[/img] All rigged and ready to run to the arena. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00058.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00060.jpg[/img] View from the cab! Other stuff that caught my eye. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00048.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00049.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00050.jpg[/img] Had a cracking weekend, our first time at Kemble. Seeing the Cheiftains running around the arena made me want one even more. :-) Good to meet TooTallMike and Grasshopper the Ward is lovely. See you at Beltring. Jon
  8. I have heard that Blackboard paint is a good cheap substitute for matt black camo paint. Never tried it but i it could be a good hard wearing alternative.
  9. You are fine to drive up 7.5 tons then. The old HGV 123 have been changed to Cat C Rigid HGV and then C+E Artic.
  10. You can drive up 7.5 ton on your car licence, depending upon when you passed your test. At 10 tons you would need cat C truck licence.
  11. Reverse warning bleeper on/off switch? :?
  12. Nil points in the belly flop finals.
  13. The Birmingham mob should be going, Simon should be taking the TM with a mog in the back and Grumpy and me in his Militant Mk3.
  14. The barrel/key comes built into the winged part. Never seen listed a blank in a rover parts book but thats not to say a military version existed for FV's. The part number for it is 536913. You could cut the head off the key so it sits in barrel and fill the top?
  15. That looks like a Landrover series 2 diesel ignition switch. It should have a key barrel in the middle and the wings are there to help turn the switch against spring pressure rather than all the force being put key/barrel. When i get chance later on i will get a part number for you. Jon
  16. Some pic's of Sundays surgical operation to remove a dead box of cogs. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00030.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00032.jpg[/img] Removing the last of the bell housing bolts. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00033.jpg[/img] Out she comes, very black an oily in the bellhousing. :-( Should be driving properly ready for Kemble MVT show. :-D
  17. Couple of Photos of Simon's new baby. :-D http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00015-1.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00013-1.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00014-1.jpg[/img]
  18. I took a couple of Pics last night but have to get my new phone to play with the Pc. Makes the 109 look tiny. :-D
  19. Looks good, fingers x-ed its something simple with the box.
  20. I have run a nato hitch on the landrover before now using just tow bolts. Just take it steady and remember to use rated 8.8 bolts.
  21. Checked the list for Grumpys trailer and that is 1959-60. :-D
  22. That sounds like a job for Grumpy and his Militant. :-D
  23. Had a quick look at the list i had lurking in my desk (sure its something Clive produced) GT looks like it was for Group B Transport, 1977-78. Will photo copy it for you and you can have a copy next time i see you.
