  1. Neil, you have passed your eye test. :-D Yep, its been removed awhile back for easier access to the clutch slave cylinder when we were first trying to work out what the problem was.
  2. Spent a couple of hours in the barn last night. Donned gloves and armed with bin bags we set about gardening in the back of the Stolly. Looking alot better now that a couple of sack fulls of leaves have been removed. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00438.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00437.jpg[/img] Also removed the rear hull plate and Grumpy went exploring.. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00439.jpg[/img] Pic's aint the best due to the lights. Next job is to remove the fan pullys and belts so the fans and rad can come out, then on to the engine its self.
  3. The Mk1 is also resting, needs a lot of work though. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00011.jpg[/img] So it might be sold as is if any one is interested in a good project. :-D
  4. Yep, we will be doing it our selves. The Mk2 is the easy one so we are doing that first. Before deciding if we should start on the Mk1 or sell it as is or start on the Tatra 813. We have dragged it in so it can dry out and we can work on it at night. Will pull out again to lift the engine out with the Militant and then clean and paint the Hull.
  5. The time has come for Grumpys Mk11 Stolly to start working again. Its been resting for awhile since the clutch gave up on him a few years back, first of all under some trees and then more recently outside our workshop teasing us to get it working again. A quick measure up and we knew it would fit in the door but would it fit between the posts of the ramp? It was a squeeze with about 3/4" either side between the sides and the posts. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00418.jpg[/img] Ready to moved. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00419.jpg[/img] Grumpy on the Militant. We needed it nose in, so the crane came in handy to more or less turn it around in its own length. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00421.jpg[/img] The final push, Took three of us to get it in. Grumpy swinging the back end into line on the crane, Jeff reversing the whole lot and Me steering the dead Stolly onto the ramp. :schocked: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00424.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00423.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00428.jpg[/img] Its in! http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00431.jpg[/img] Started taking the very slimy deck out. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/DSC00432.jpg[/img] With the deck and floor supports off reveals a mobile compost heap. Full of rotting leafs and creepycrawlies. This weekend we will start gardening erm..clearing the rubbish out before warming the spanners. More to come....
  6. On the subject of trailers i thought i would post a pic of moving some widetrack trailers around the yard.
  7. Cheers Guys. Never fails to amaze me how helpful can be. I will pass on the diagrams and he can get tangled in electric string. Thanks again. Jon
  8. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a military LR 110? A friend is having problems with his lights and i can find civvy landrover manuals on the web but not a military specific one. I have copys of the 109 diagrams but i doubt these would be much help? Cheers.
  9. Went to Withams yesterday to pict up some stuff and noticed this poor little thing sitting in the rain. The other half likes the look of ferrets but think she would kill me if brought it home.
  10. Military landrovers have side facing bench seats which do not require seat belts so i can not see why it would not apply to others. Forward facing seats must have belts.
  11. True. Glad this bit is called I may be stupid but...
  12. I may be stupid but... When counting splines on a drive shaft or gear do you count the tooth or the gap between each tooth?
  13. The main concern i belive was that indicators are inboard of the brake lights on a Sankey and that they should now be the otherway round. I stand to be corrected though.
  14. The mk 1 was pulled from a Hedge where it had stood for at least 10 years, some parts had been removed. The engine may well be siezed, hard to tell as the gearchange has also stuck. Its a very long term project or up for sale if a offer was made. We bought it to save it from scrap. We hope to tackle the clutch in the mk2 this summer, i have been told its possible to do the job by moving the engine back. Its tight but doable.
  15. Yep, i know where most things are unless they get moved by someone else. The biggest problem is getting to stuff.
  16. Yep, i have a share of a Mk 1 currently a non-runner and a mate owns a Mk 2 which currently needs a clutch. The current state of the yard... The Mk2 parked up ready for warmer weather..
  17. There is some great pictures of interesting Landrovers on the Dunsfold collection website. The swiss 100"s are on there too. I want a Vampire 101.
  18. Nat, The big Ltwt that Degsy refers to was built way before the coil sprung 100"s. It used a 6 pot engine and had other nice things like air tanks for airbraked trailers. Its in the Dunsfold collection.
  19. I have always thought that it was the wide type of cable trunking. Ask at your local electrical supply shop. Its the sort of stuff they zip tie bundles of computer cables to.
  20. I have use of a rented barn to work in and keep tools/spares and the cluter that comes with such a hobby. Its big enough to get a couple of motors in work on in comfort, We have the luxury of a 4 post ramp to work on the smaller stuff. The Unimog just fits on it. I share the rent on a yard space outside to keep everything in. We are running out of space and had a quick count up between us yesterday. Mine, 2x Series 3 ex-mil 109s 8x5 trailer 404 unimog Shared between us, 88inch hybrid landrover 88inch series 2 (rotten chassis) Mk 1 Stolly Grumpys, 109 ex-mil Series 3 110 waiting to be repaired Mk2 Stolly 404 Unimog (radiobody) 2 Ginnetas Volvo lorry and a beaver tail body waiting to go on it. Aston Martain (not be seen for 2 years in its own shed) And thats only the whole vehicals with wheels on the ground! My 109 carawagon in bits lives in the back of the volvo. A mjor tidy up has started.
  21. Got pictures off my phone, hence the fuzzyness! Till i sort hosting and posting some on here a couple are here http://www.orrp.com/smf/index.php?topic=16384.0
  22. Yep that makes sense, as mentioned the other warning is linked to the shuttle valve on the chassis. Suprising what you learn and i work with Landrovers daily.
