  1. Could do with some of that camo sheet to cover the horse trailer that now lives on my front lawn. Least swmbo cant moan.
  2. Now lets see you reverse with that lot behind! Good pic's.
  3. Plenty of stuff to rattle, would check the transfer, 4wd and handbrake levers first might be a loose link on one of them. Just hold each one in turn when driving and see if it makes any change.
  4. No but its good to see it on the road and working rather than just rusting away abandoned.
  5. Nice Pic's. Roll on the slightly less wet weather and the tilt will be off on Mine.
  6. Trucks with cranes  Good work fellas.
  7. The easy way to tell the difference is where the clutch slave cylinder is. On series 2/2a boxes the slave is mounted verticaly on the righthand side of the box and its a rod operated release bearing. On the 3's the cylinder is mounted horizontaly on the lefthand side of the box.
  8. I have heard good things about this stuff, both the liquid and gel but not used it my self. http://www.bilthamber.com/deoxgel.html
  9. Poor things sat in the yard waiting to die and he moans about one joining a giant fish tank.
  10. Its normally the diff pan thats painted white,On tracked stuff its normal to paint some white stripes instead and on trailer its common to find a small plate on a bracket thats painted.
  11. Found this exploded drawing, should make it a bit clearer. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Gen.jpg[/img]
  12. Neil, its hard to see in the picture but is it the rod thats attached to the side of the alternator thats hanging loose? If so its the tensioning rod/stay and the other end should attach to a bracket on the engine. I have a picture at work on Microfiche but will see if i can find a paper copy. If i can P/M me a fax number and i will send you copy.
  13. Just the weather on sunday to carry on the job. It varied from light rain upto 'oh look there goes the ark'. Time to make the Landrover sweat a bit pulling it out off the ramp. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00472.jpg[/img] Really need to paint those wheels. Get out the engine hoist. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00479.jpg[/img] Rigged ready to lift out. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00478.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00477.jpg[/img] Lifted slightly and a good poke with the crowbar and it parted company from the gearbox. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00476.jpg[/img] And out it comes.. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00480.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00483.jpg[/img] http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00485.jpg[/img] Left with a large gap in smelly oily hull. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Poptopshed/Stolly/DSC00486.jpg[/img] It was the release bearing that had failed, found a couple of large bits left in the bellhousing and most of the carbon ring was in bits in the hull. Its also taken the pressure plate fingers, the ring is well out of central. Stolly Simon turned up bring the vital parts of milk and jaffa cakes then helped get it back on the ramp and the engine into the barn. Hope to give the engine the once over in the week and see if we will remove the gearbox before cleaning and painting.
  14. Slow morning at work surfing around and found this pic.... http://www.rrec.co.uk/website/public/history/images/BCF6.jpg[/img] Just wondering if its the rear view of the pic Neil posted above? Pretty sure it is.
  15. Makes a change from a range wreck but still a sad end. http://www.ndac.co.uk/news_new_attractions.htm
  16. Yep, and we have only managed to lose one spanner into the depths so far. :-D Attacking the bellhousing bolts it slipped down the side of the starter motor. Can see it but cant get at it. Lying on the bulge of the dowty getting at oil pipes under the exhaust manifold proved to be a pain the ass, any movement tended to result in me rolling off the bulge and getting wedged between it and the dropside.
  17. What are the Tracked Shed's used for? :dunno:
  18. Sounds like a good plan and might just get us motivated enough to finish the job of getting it out over and done with. I suppose the birthday involves large amounts of falling down juice? :-D
  19. Is the steam cleaner yours? Grumpy is after one to do the same as you to clean the hull out once the engine is out. Plan to lift the front up with the Militant and wash it all down.
  20. M Plate would be right for 73-74 year. Flasher relay just plugs into the single large connector behind the 6 way light switch.
  21. Time for Grumpy to get a shed load of silver paint. :-D
  22. Like the pic of the engine coming out. Cant wait to see Grumpys doing the same.
