  2. I found these while trawling through the net. A prewar tank transporter captured by the germans, a very very rare sight.
  3. Welcome Bob An LRDG Chevrolet sound interesting, please post pictures, I have always like them Are you building it base one a civilian or military Chevrolet
  4. congratulations with it, it looks good.
  5. You can alway make a set of fake weights for it, of box section steel and some tube. I have a set of fakes on mine, the only problem with them is that they rattle and they can jump abit when driving on rough ground, due to being lighter
  6. The structure in front of the radiator is a rack for carrying counter weights, weighing around 75kg each and it has 7 of them. People tend to drive around with out the weights, because there is no reason for making the steering heaviere than it is. The rack is only fitted to the recovery version of the Pioneer. And yes nice to see another Scammell saved.
  7. It has been to long, since I have made any updates to this blog, and to be honest the drive havent really been there lately, I have been distracted by my other vehicles and the having to re-do all the sheet metal repairs is real killjoy. The overhaul of the engine is postponed until spring because the workshop dos not have time before then.... Things I have done are replacing the some of the repairs on the left indside side of the cab, here the internal reinforcement had been cut out and not replaced , so that had to be redone, the same goes for the cover for the front bull bar, here the hole in the floor had not been cut and the cover did not have the correct still. I will have to replace the bottom wood part of the drivers side door, as it is bit to worn, but luckly the doors still fit. I might have to hurry up the restoration now as I have begun to forget where things go in the cab, Eg. it to me quite some time to remember that there was a cover plate in the passenger side foot well.
  8. Congratulations, It looks really good

  12. Some of the ww1 war trophies in the states, eg. Big Bertha and various arty pieces where scraped during WW2 to recycle the metal. I have seen a video clip of it some where.
  13. The engine was taken from the Tiger II and fitted in the Tiger I (131) as the original engine from 131 was sectioned for display after the testing of 131. The Tiger II engine threw a rod through the side of the block while it was being test in 131 during the restoration, but a spare block was found.

  22. Almost 20 years ago I was given a tamiya 1/35, CMP Ford Quad modelkit, and since then a dream of owning one of these little oddly looking tractors have been lurcking in the back of my head. This dream as now materialised it self, with a 1941 Chevrolet Cab 12 GT. While searching through a MV page on facebook, I came in contact with a Norwegian guy who had one. I went to see it in early June and a deal was struck and then came a long wait for the export license to clear. The license came last week and the transport home was quikly arranged and booked. The CGT was given a new battery and some fresh petrol and soon after it was running again after some years of standing still. The back has been cut like on most of them to fit a recovery crane, and it has been fitted with a postwar Chevrolet engine, I have not id the type yet, but it runs and drives nicely. The rear tires are date 1941. The brakes will still need some work as the front ones are missing all internal parts, but the handbrake worked nicely. I got a lot of odd looks when I drove it on to the ferry. It have seen service with the Norwegian army postwar and probably with Tysklands brigaden, The Norwegian brigade in Germany just after the war. It was then sold off in 1948, it has then spent a part of its life as a recovery truck at Auto A/S which was representing Viking Recovery in Egersund in Norway. It still was at Auto A/S garage in the early eighties. Auto A/S had 3 CGT recovery trucks. It still has a lot of original features in the crew compartment. The plan is to restore it to its war time configuration so any pictures, drawings and parts are most welcome.
