British snatch block identification sought

1/2" diameter, looks to be the correct for the root radius for the pulley. -
I have recently acquired these two ww2 era British snatch blocks and I am wondering if anyone knows their intended use or what they where issued to. They are for 1.5” wire rope but are only rated at 2.5 tons which I find to be very little for such a wire.
