  1. Early ejector seats connection....????:nut:
  2. Im a hydraulics engineer and OMD 30 should just be an ordenary 30 grade hydraulic oil. If using a modern equivelant oil in any of your "Beast" then check its compatability with the older grades. I know that some are not suitable because of the additives in them and can cause breakdown of older components.
  3. I have my Taxi day in her in October, Xmas pressie off the missus. She bought it for me when we were over in Australia at Xmas and I registered as soon a s I got home in January. "What date would you like ,sir?" The nice lady asked on the fone. "Soon as you can please!" I answered........ "That would be October then, sir!!!".......... How many wait nearly another year for their Xmas Pressie??? LOL Good to hear they are busy and that Jane is going to fly again. Should have booked my day on the maiden flight!!! Damn!!!!! LOL
  4. We got a weather vane anyone wants to come and see it....???? Oh, and two ducks occasionally sit on our roof too, but thats hit n miss if you see them tho...!!!:nut: Dont ya hate showoffs??? LOL Nice bit of kit, im a Meteor man myself but only because they were based just up the road at Hooton, 610 sqn, now Vauxhall motors. You can still go on part of the runway and the extension they built for the jets!
  5. Just put bloody oil in it and see if it works mate, bloomin Mancs kicking off again as usual....!!!! (what rivalry..???:cool2:)
  6. Infact just been thinking about it and due to the lack of oil and drive my expert opinion is its scrap!! Nothing can be done, the engine is effected, hull integrity has gone, tracks worn to death and as for thoes killer bogies....!!! I realy wouldnt take a chance on ever getting it going or handing her back to the owner...!! I doo need a couple of nuts n bolts tho and would do you a BIG (HUGE!!) favour and remove it from your premisis before the authorities find out you have a dangerous vehicle there!!! :cool2: NO, dont have to thank me..My pleasure for a fellow HMVF er!! Just buy me a couple of beers as a thank you!!:nut:
  7. Ths same effect on a hydrostatic transmission on fork trucks. No oil... no drive!! Dont know the grade for your box but they use ATF (transmission 2) oil in fork lifts. I suspect thats your first avenue of call, but let it warm up first on tickover after you top the levels up. Then check oil level again. Find out if the level is taken at HOT or COLD. Some have both marked on the stick.
  8. I worked at Kwik Fit MANY years ago and saw a lad distracted talking to a customer blowing a car tyre up. Should have been about 28 psi but he recons it got to bout 80psi! Blew the tyre right off the rim and him across the workshop!!!! hes lucky no more damage had been done to him or customer!!!! Then again he was a complete tool!!!!
  9. Do we know where this was shot and who did it??? Lets get up a posse and go round n beat him to a pulp!! Im still in shock about the T16 carrier local to me that was cut up just a few years ago, still in running condition because the scrap prices went sky high!!!!! What possesses people...??:nut:
  10. Theres a simelar vehicle in a local history book about Victorian Wirral. Theres a series of them tho and it would take an age to trawl thru them! It belonged to a local company called Hardings and showed a simelar posed pic with locals on a day trip. A souvenir of their day out to be purchased after the journey or included in the price maybe? If I dig it out will try to scan.
  11. Light Blue (Sky Blue??) as painted to reprisent the Spits that did the recon on the Dams before and after Operation Chastice (Dambusters raid) to see the effects of the bombings. Painted that colour because of the high altitude they flew!
  12. G`Day Cobber, welcome to the asylum! Where bouts in this fine part of the universe are you (yeah, Cheshire, but big place!) Im in Bromborough, Wirral.
  13. Does it cut out when hot then start ok after you have let her cool down?? Could be coil also, I have even seen new old stock out of the box do this. Can you beg, steal, borrow a known good one to eliminate?? Also could be fuel evaporation. Try heat shield or temp re-route fuel lines WELL away from engine/exhaust etc! Reading this thrtead, the answers given should give you a fair bit to do. Dont forget, if you have A PROBLEM THE HMVF-TEAM ARE HERE TO HELP......!!!(leads out with the A-Team theme ringing in his ears......!!!!):nut:

  19. Your having a laff arnt you....???? Using a recovery winch to pull that bare chassis onto the spec lift, could have pushed that on. Bet they charge extra for using the winch eh.....!!!!:nut:
  20. Not a problem with that mate. havent experience with military vehicles but I work on large tipper wagons that normally hold 40 tonnes plus, and they have wooden packers between their chassis and back! A liot of the recovery wagons do too with the tilt back (tilt n slide!)
  21. ye of little faith!!! wont be a computer, it will be an indian bloke on opposite side of world reading from a Q card and repeating the same question over and over again til you answer whats on his card to proceed to next useless question!! but you are right about the looonnnggg phone call tho!!! good luck and keep us updated. had a lot of dealings with dvla and they are useless unless ive just been unlucky, more like it!!

    DO 17 raising

This is a great exibit in my opinion. I went there for a full day a couple of years ago. the plane is depicting a photo taken of a crashed BF109 during the battle of britain over the south coast. Dont have full details but im sure some bod on here will have pics of the opposite side and original pic! Whatever your interests take a FULL day at Duxford, you will not be dissapointed (thats an order soldier...!!):-D Well worth the drive down for us, stay the night in a local B&B, loads of history down there relating to wartime conflicts!!
  24. AND dont forget you cant give negative feed back even if they are a useless lying t*at!!!! Had many experiences like this, mainly from none specialists who just want your cash!! Ive been after a Welbike resto for a while now but daft priced wanted just put the brakes on it. I am toying with building my own repo like a few have done (just missed out on Dave Griffiths` and he lives just round the corner from me....!!!) But the main parts, frame, tanks, forks etc are made in India. Bad workmanship, unsent orders and blatant lies from suppliers has put me off completely plus the postage charges!! Ive come to the conclusion of why bother!!! Thats just me im afraid!
  25. See some of the Wirral boys were out tanning their bodies!!! Missed it, only just back from sunny mexico and wanted to get to this this. Know a lot of the classic car lads too from my previous life! Looks like a good one too, bugger....!!!!
