  1. Can't argue with that then...! I've just got it personal with them being competition and all that and the way they deal!
  2. Why is it that people automatically go to Pirtek instead of their small local hydraulics company?? Not a problem mate, just dont swear at me again (Pirtek...!!!) I am 10 years senior engineer for Pirtek here in the North west, saw the error of my ways and started my own company. never looked back. We parted on bad terms so I opened my depot next to theirs!!!! I can do the same and more as im not tied into supplier contracts and I enjoy the challenge of hydraulics where their guys just say they cant do it and tell you to go to main agents!!!! Let me know, always willing to help where i can
  3. Get to Bastogne too, not ww1 but still a beautiful place and a fantastic museum

    A dakota

Think they have one up already, few years ago. The famous one is the Lockheed P38 squadron lost its bearings from USA to Scotland and forced landed on an ice drift. Crew rescued and planes left to be recovered at later date. Later date and snow storm had covered the lot so left. One recovered after years of investigation and excavation. Made a book bout it all, but cant find it. Brilliant read and reference. rest of planes still there. Recovered one is being restored and maybe flying again.....Going mad now trying to think of book title!!!!!:nut:

A lot of the time they used frozen lakes for landing strips. Ice starts to melt and planes get stranded. Think it happened to a load of heinkel111s in Norway during the war, whole lot sank!
  7. This trailer was weighed into a mates scrap yard today, spotted the hitch and told him not to destroy till I can identify and see if any good to members. You will prob get for scrap value. Got wrong wheels on but not too bad. Bit of corrosion in floor corners but maybe good to someone as spares. was towed in with another box trailer (domestic one!) that had military style wheels and new rubber!!!

    DO 17 raising

The Heinkel raising is a spectacular sight to see, but water conditions helped save the structure and condition. Was it fresh water lake, colder etc...!
  9. dab of threadlock on them too would help! How much do a set of these pipes cost? Can you still get them NOS??? If I had an old set I can make these up for members if required!! Are they 1 wire hose or 2 wire?? R1AT or R2AT?? If anyone has simelar they need just ask, im a hydraulics engineer with my own company.
  10. Off the top of my head its 18 TPI. JIC and UNF have the same TPI and threads as SAE also which is more of an automotive fitting. Let me know if your stuck and will consult my book of words n numbers!!!
  11. A source for your blue light...! Im in the Morris Minor Owners Club and they have a seperate Police Vehicle section. They can source Police related items for owners cars, Lights, signs, switches etc. Try them! Think there is a seperate Police Car Register for ex `Jam Butty` cars as we called them as kids!
  12. Or get an inline oiler that goes between the hose and the gun. regulates oil feed into gun. Bout 5-10 quid! On a correct setup you would have the TANK outlet, then FILTER/REGULATOR, then OILER! But dont use the oiler if you are spraying!!!!!! Have a seperate filter/regulator for that!!
  13. I do a lot of work on the oil rig jetties at Shell Refinery (Now Essar!) and basically all y0ou have to stand on is a metal mesh grill and the River Mersey below. Gets a bit expensive in spanners and large adjustables so I have started tying lengths of string to my tools and onto my person or piece of kit im working on. saving a fortune in tools even if I do look daft!!! Prob is if I fell in I would sink like a lead balloon!!!!:-D
  14. Dont you mean most of the people who make the bloody laws dont understand them!!!!
  15. Spotted yesterday in Saughall Massie, Wirral. John Young road testing a friends jeep after setting up the transmission band (Think he said)
  16. She was in Cammell Lairds last weekend for the Battle of the Atlantic celebrations. Thats fitting as its where she was built.
  17. try 9/16 UNF/JIC have you a thread guage?? I own my own hydraulics company and if I can help dont hesitate to contact me.
  18. welcome Roberto. Dont worry about your English, it is better than some here in the UK!
  19. Or you could eat my wife's curry... David I do hope that's not a double entendre my friend......!lol:cool2:
  20. Don't like jubilee clips. Prefers either supa hose clamps(one bolt clamps) or O clips, single ear or twin! Don't even like them on air brake lines, sooner have a swage crimped ferrule for permanent connection.
  21. Give it a few more years then and they wont need the paint, just brushes to sweep up the rust!!!! Sad case for these beautiful and memorial vehicles!
  22. Fuel lines, water lines, air and fluid brake lines after a while can succumb to the elements. Sun, dirt, road salt, water, cleaning chemicals etc, they all have an effect on these components. Rubber will break down after a while and may look ok on the outside. When manufactured, hoses are made in layers, especially if there is a braid inside them. After a while the lining layer can break down seperating the layers and leaking out. Ever seen BUBBLING on the outside of a brake hose or fuel line?? Thats it! The opposite can also happen and instead of causing bubbling the vaccum in the line can cause the internal wall to collapse and block/restrict the flow. Always check these hoses on a regular basis, they can go at any time, no warning especially now summers here and the rain is getting warmer....!!!!!
  23. HI mike, welcome to the asylum. You will enjoy it on here, its self medication for us green addicts!!! You arnt the same Pinz that used to post on WIKIWIRRAL are you?? He signed himself the same and from that area!
