  1. JOHN you are right there were impressed O series BEDFORDS with the BEF in FRANCE and recall seeing a picture of some on a FRENCH road but at the moment cannot remember where
  2. HI TONY A couple of years ago l needed the same type of cleats and all that seemed to be about were the ones with two holes then some one said try a ships chandlers you know the type that sell bits for small boats and they had some with only one hole in the centre and about the same size

MARTIN I think i can say l know more about the B vehicle history cards than most that are held at DEEPCUT when l first started collecting them in the late seventies some had already been destroyed or misplaced amongnst them the bg range what did survive where 00bg01 to 13 bg 36/ 13 bg37 to 29 bg 46/ 29 bg 47 to 79 bg 56 / 79 bg 57 to 81 bg 96/81 bg 97 to 87 bg 46/ 87 bg 47 to 99 bg 46/99 bg 47 to 99 bg 99 THESE are the numbers l held at Beverley and l expect they are the same as DEEPCUT AS to any more in the BG RANGE turning l would say it is unlikeley but never say never there are some that DEEPCUT did not get or likely to REGARDS WALLY

TONY l hope you do not mind me butting in but l have been doing some research on the construction of wooden bodies during world war two including half ton trailers both british and canadian there is reference to the use of plain edged boards in the construction of the floors and sides And up to now no reference to the use of T/G l am sure they will have used it but the main reason for not using it seems to do with the wood swelling

  11. tony the black cat was used by four divisions but only two had a arched back the 9 corp but this had a orange square background which this one did not while the one in the picture is not what l would call khaki but it is not orange 9 corps cat has a more arched back
  12. RICHARD you are right household cavalry but still cannot place the number 5 in some of the books l have it appears as a spare
  13. SORRY do not know why l mentioned 74 but l cannot find the number 5 in my books in any reference to the artillery
  14. THE only cat with a arched back cat is black on a khaki back ground belongs to the 17 INDIAN DIVISION the red and blue is royal artillery 74 is 2 field regiment but it does not seem right on a saracen l could be wrong
  15. IT wasnt even a proper tow rope if l am not mistaken it was a ratchet strap which is not designed to be used in that role

GRAHAM The photograph l mentioned is the one in post number one on this thread showing the AUSTIN MOKE at the FVRDE EXHIBITION with the motorcycle The pictures l have where taking on site without any other vehicles in the shot it shows the front and offside and the nearside and rear AS to the reports l will try what you suggest to night if that fails l will ask the Boys at reprographics if they can help its not what you know its who you know REGARDS WALLY

JUST got a new box of files in one of the photograph albums there are photograph of two moke one of moke estabilishment number 6012 which is chassis numberSPL 467 AM The other is the same as in the first post the Austin Moke also there are the trials reports but they have suffered from the effects of uv light but I am hopeful that they can be recovered

Bridges in the british are classed as the following 5 9 i2 18 24 30 40 50 60 70 tons so if you wanted to cross a bridge you would have to find one of at least i2 tons as the maximum weight the bridge would carry having looked at old photographs of AF BUDGES when he had loads of saracens they carried either the number 11 or 12 bridge plate l think this is one of the times its up to you because there is no 10 or 11 ton bridge so your only one you can use is 12 and above l hope this makes sense to you

HI JAMES Over the years this problem reappears and lots of things have been tried my favorite is amongst others is diesel and parafin mixed 50/50 and left for a number of days to stand we found on the B range engines that had been stood for along periods that the exhaust valves also sometimes stick also the generator can go stiff so loosen the belts just in case in the case of the two speed one l am sure others on here will also come up with ideas to help you so good luck
