  1. HI IAN JUST LOOK at the pictures in the volume v11 of canadian trailers it does look like one shame there is not a view of the wheel and the rear fitted with METAFILTERS

I have allways said l do not know much about american trucks but in the TM 9- 2800 DATED 1947 page 346 is a FEDERAL TYPE C2 like the one in NOS post down to the curved wings it states amongst other things fitted with 110 volt DC electric power plant 3000 watts this might mean nothing may be a differant type but does have the curved boom and a picture

  5. THE B card records at the RLC MUSEUM do not contain any information on ex british wartime vehicles transfered to other goverments yes if you have a british army cenus number they may find its details beter still the post 1948 number

Ian now l have got the the key card copyed in full COLOUR it shows more detail the first five trailers are GEN 9 KW 2 WH 1 TON the next eight are trailer 1 TON macin gas WELDING MADE by TRANSPORT ENGINEERING COMPANY which includes your the last two are CARGO ANY WAY YOU WILL SEE FOR YOUR SELF sending you a copy with some other details REGARDS WALLY

IAN these are the details of your trailer 82 YM 77 contract number 57071 chassis number was 10596 seems to be differrent in your photo X number 6197876 WAS SOLD AT OLD DALBY TW0 MONTHS AFTER DATE ON PLATE ON THE 2/9 /55 OLD DALBY IS NEAR LEICESTER your trailer is a early one so how do l know all this well l have the key card and when l fathom out how to post it l will or send me you home address and l will post it to you only thing l need to do is find when it was made l have looked at the CHILLWELL RECORDS BUT THE INFORMATION CONTRADICT OTHER scources l will not even try to guess at it at the moment but will let you know as soon l can if thats alright with you REGARDS WALLY

NOW you have posted the pictures of the trailer it is not a number 5 mark one as it has not got the castor wheel it has a handbrake which was not fitted on the 5 mark one but was fitted on the early GS THERE IS DIFFERANCE IN LENGTH BETWEEN THE TWO 5 MARK ONE IS 10 FT 9 INCHES THE EARLY ONE IS 11FT 6 INCHES the post war number is listed in the record 0f key cards which were held at BEVERLEY and are now at DEEPCUT

YOUR question about civillian type registration numbers this stopped been used on military vehicles after the fall of france and was replaced by a system refered to as cenus numbers all vehicle numbers would start with a prefix letter this would tell you what the vehicle was IE A was a ambulance Z trucks under 1 ton and so on This would be followed a series of numbers example Z 123456 the RAF and NAVY adopted there own system l hope this helps abit to understand
