  1. Very interesting in 1919 a sale of surplus equipment took place at RICHBOROUGH MILITARY PORT most of it had been destined for france amongst which was a ARMOURED SIMPLEX NARROW GAUGE LOCO which later on in its life was the subject of a SALVAGE SQUAD programe

  3. l would like to throw some light on your question about the plates on your trailer when a contract was placed with a manufacture a block of cenus numbers would be allocated for use on them a example would be X5221000 TO X5222000 these numbers stayed in use until 1948 when the military reorganized the way the numbering by using this type of system as in your case 80 ZA 54 To be sure of the answer you could write to THE RLC MUSEUM DEEPCUT here in ENGLAND giving them the ZA number and they if they have the B vehicle card they can tell you contract number/wartime number and who made it they do charge for this information REGARDS WALLY
  4. hi the chassis/frame was a gloss black before been covered in black under seal the springs the axles were also black as were the replacement parts when delivered
  5. morning bill just out of interest l look up the weight of your K9 it is suposed be unladen 9000 lbs or 4. 5 tons fully kitted 10,192 lbs TO be be sure before getting any new tyres why not get it weighed then you know for sure what loading figures the tyres need to be REGARDS WALLY

  10. GRAHAM at the 1962 EXHIBITION there were two mk3 ANTARS 16 CL 78 and RGX 982 Which also had the number 02 SP 23 ESTABILISHMENT NUMBER 5790 THEY are both on a exhibition list and also appear in the 1962 book
  11. GRAHAM 16 CL 78 WAS a MK3 antar and was a CHERTSEY TRIALS vehicle estabilishment number 6002 left there in 1962 to go to 21 BVD FELTHAM so l would say the photograph dates about 1962 REGARDS WALLY

HI SIMON l have a ferret with the original cage fitted it served in the first gulf war with the QUEENS ROYAL IRISH HUSSARS Also it is fitted with the PSP aluminium sand channels l will measure the cage if you wish it hinges at the rear and goes vertical making access to both engine hatches much easier than the side hinged ones bad picture attached l would think it would be easier to have one made local to you it will be much cheaper REGARDS WALLY
  13. right easy FIRST remove the large brass coloured by pressing the rubber dimples at the back and draw the ring over them when you have done this slip a thin screw driver between the rubber outer and silver inner and you will find that the metal inner sits in the outer rubber gentlely work round it will pop out regards wally

I found this and thought it was not the normal run of the mill these were ordered in 1942 by the BRITISH GOVERNMENT from the CANADIANS they where shipped to scotland to permit training by the army during the winter of 42/43 but there was no snow in scotland that year so the army could not commence training program THREE where sent to the U S S R BUT no trials results came back as to how they performed THE reason this interested me in the winter of 1942 /43 my father was attached to the 52 nd lowland division at AVIEMORE so he may have seen them
  17. l have just come across my file on MUIR HILL A5000 MK I your muir hill is chassis number AS 1068x missed the last number out but you know it sold at RUDDINGTON on the 26/1/82 was sent to ASHCHURCH and went into service with the army on the 6 april 1971 JOHN this is all l have on it

THIS IS THE first page for the BYRAM PARK sales there where 900 lots and it was afour day sale there where 274 austin 8 hp two door open two seaters the most expensive it was a HUMBER SNIPE a snip at £787/ 10 old pence but was a bargain as was mark as excellent as new total the sale was £ 47,213,10 shillings

MR richardson was the most meticulous man and his attention to detail was out standing he left nothing to chance giving every item its own code and seperating them it to groups army /navy/raf/ civil defence as RICHARD has said the ARMY also used the MIDDLESEX registration numbers up to the fall of france there some nice pictures of armour with them IT is my hope that like me you have found them of interest REGARDS WALLY
