  1. By the way do you follow Monmouth or Golden Valley? Degsey's right of course, but a bit of long straight wide road does sooth the nerves occasionally.
  2. Stop rubbing the SUN bit in you lot! And welcome.
  3. This argument is always good for a few punch ups and throwing people in the Club House DUKW pond.:-D Maintain the engine and don't cane the B*** out of it, especialy when cold, allow the engine to cool down after a long run before turning off. My Dodge desen't and the 101 also never had any problem running on anything vauguley called petrol, even the French stuff. Bear in mind we now have to add Pig P** to the disiel to cut emissions. Though what ever happned to Urea based foam being banned in furniture because if it burns the fumes are deadly? Answers on a brick through the window of TFL please.
  4. Whilst I'm hells bent on keeping kids safe. I wonder now how I survived chilhhod.:-\
  5. Welcome Jo. You might be a little young to remember a Red Dog Running Free, but still. I don't envy you some of the roads round there with a big truck.

  9. Must admit, I wouldn't mind having a crack at driving my Dodge up Pen Y Fan, in winter. :-D
  10. Age? Um yes.... I was going to say something to you... Don't worry Nikos, this is normal procedure..
  11. Oh I definotlry meant Wales! Land of my Farther, Mother, Grandparents. (Three verses of We'll keep a welcome in the Hillsides to follow:D)
  12. Sounds as though the model has almost as much pedigree as her forbears.
  13. Biscuit tins were often modifed to form cookers, dump sand in then petrol and add match, while standing well back. There was an intresting episode of Ration Book Britian on Yeterday channel last night. Andy Robertshaw supplied details of improvised cokers and then presenter cooked a meal for some Chelsea Pensioners. One told a great story of an improvised stove in the desert. He was cooking pork chops, the flame from petrol is very difficult to see in sunlight. He added more fuel , and there was a hell of a bang and he was blown under a truck. He felt flesh and had red stuff running down his face! When pulled out he found himself coverd in fish and tomato sauce. The sides of the oven had bene built with Sardine Cans! Oh the pork chops survived and were very nice.
  14. Chemin Des Dames, Track or Road of the Ladies, was infamous during the Great War, the French equivalent of the Somme. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemin_des_Dame
  15. Don't nessacarily need to freeze. A lead-acid battery uses a chemical reaction to create current. Temprature is one the most important factors in the effeciency of a chemical reaction. Freezing point for a completly flat battery is about -5-6 centigrade as opposed to about -67 c for a full charge. All sorts of factors will affect a batteries low tempratue crank performance though. Most figures stated by manufacturers use a standard temprature, and I can't rememeber if it is 19 0r 21 degrees C
  16. Are you sure this idea about auxilary bean power is viable?
  17. 'That bit of junk can go!' Music to the ears! :-D
  18. A Ferret represents major dabbaling. Welcome in.
  19. Budget cuts meant the cockpit had to be scrapped.
  20. Take extra care fitting the back plug neareast the bulkhead. It is possible to think you have it in tight, and a get a hell of a fright when you start up and find out it isn't! Fortunatley it is as idiot proof as an engine can be. :red:
  21. Thanks for that I was thinking 50:50 for some small stuff to start with, nuts bolts and some clasp knives that have rusted up. I have a nice little ultrasonic cleaner to deal with residue. I've got some old coins so be intresting to se ewhat happens with non ferrous as well.
