  1. Welcome, except Guys! You do realise Rosie now has a gang behind her! :shocking:No more drying shreddies over the bar radiators then.
  2. You got to admire how seriously Olympic security was taken! :-D
  3. When all said and done. Seventy five odd percent of all Land Rovers built are still runnning, sometimes three in the same vehicle! :cool2:
  4. Didn't UK have a cheap COIN aircraft? The old Bulldog Primary trainer. The Biafaran's aremed them up and were very effective. There are also a number of survalliance version of the Islander, and supposedly a kight weight gun ship was sketched out.
  5. Considering age and rebuilds it would a big ask for all numbers to match perfectly. All DVLA were intrested in in Katy's case was the chassis number for proof of age. They didn't even ask for a age report. She had been English registered then Jersey plated since 1997, but her old English number hadn't been reissued, I just asked for it back. A quick check and the export marker was removed.
  6. Infra Red Reflecting paint. Basically NATO Matt Green.
  7. Sabre Sales Portsmouth. Anywhere else has to measure up to them. We used to have a place called Jeff Le Marquands, all large packs as school bags and wooly pulleys and lightweights came from him.
  8. See! Same as WW2 vehicles and aircraft:D. You don't own them. They come into your care for a while, they belong to those who served.
  9. Works with ambulances of all ages as well. :-D Often just a big smile and a wave and on you go.
  10. Dackota's, Viscount, Vangaurd, the old HS748, Andover. Bristol Frieghters, Argosy. Back in the days of my Yoof, flown on them all. As a kid I used to fly unacompanied from Jersey to my sister's in Luton. One of the joys was a handy place to put unaccompanied minors, was the cockpit jump seat! I knew my way around a Dacks cockpit before I knew cars! If any of you ever watched the series about Buffalo Airways in Northern Canada they still operate the old piston aircraft, main trouble is getting leaded petrol now.
  11. Same to me mate. And I worked for MOD! It is now the Defence Procurment Agency, note the little word 'Agency'. What that means , supposedly, is that the Agency has it's own budget, not taken from the Tresurary so has to work in a commercial manner. :banghead:
  12. Trouble is a fair amount of stuff is 'Lifed'. I was given a pile of componets, when I queired it I was told after three years the reliabilty was suspect, and would you trust the life of a man to a thrupenny component that might fail? The other problem is the bit might not fail but you keep a spare anyway, and it carries on till it is obsolete. Mind you I also got a big box of Wartime dated feild dressing that had ben stored for emergency use. :-D
  13. Apparently going to Turkey. Though there is time to raid the piggy banks to put in a bid on Illustrious.
  14. Always call you Sir? They don't know you as well as we do! :-D How much to bribe Met for perfect weather then?
  15. I know they quoted 9 x 16 ladder type chains for the Dodge at £150 a pair. A looong time a go a friend who worked for BP was based in Africa. The first thing he did when he got back on leave was order 5 remould 7 x 16 tyres for his Land Rover. He reckoned that the cost of buying and shipping was worth it and he could sell the old set in Africa for the price of the new plus profit. May well be worth aquiring some extras.
  16. Welcome, there should be plenty of advice coming soon.
  17. Easiest way is treat them as 'real'. Cover on the road if vehicle mounted or transport small arms in a closed box. What they can't see they can't B*tch about!
