I have found a small jack hammer or air chisel is very helpful with spilting rims. Put a blunt chisel around the centre divide and shake the *** out of it.
Doing a quick search. 1952 was the year a lot of reorganisation was done for the US units in Europe. Even so that is now sixty years ago. A lot will have happned to the old ladies in the mean time. At least with a stretched cab there is room for a baby seat.
Bear in mind there were five 'German armies', one from each of the main states that formed Germany. I do belive face hair was compulsory in some units.
