  1. If the original coil is usable, it will work, or you can get a suitable coil from Frank. On the 12 volt weapons carrier I used original no problem. On the 6 volt WC54 because I wasn't sure of the coil I got a new one from Frank, again no problems .
  2. Good job it is simple, otherwise I couldn't cope with it! :-D
  3. There is one thing worse than finding an IED on a search, and that is NOT finding one! Plays merry hell with the nerves.
  4. Or ring Frank Jolley and do away with such problems once and for all! :cool2:
  5. Wrong, the famous Red Arrows in formation with Concorde picture! :-D
  6. Oridnary men, extrodinary story. Which they just took as normal. Thanks for posting.
  7. Thing is by the time you work out the admin costs of casting vehicles, there probably worth just as much as scrap. Also the American legal habit of suieing anyone for anything, the US Goverment would be free of any past liability if some numpty has an acident. There is also the economic argumet that came up after WW2. If you release a lot of cheap ex military vehicles onto the civillian market, who is going to pay for a new one from the manufacturer?
  8. It is the round spoon shaped pice of metal that the end of tow hitch eye bar pushes aginst. The movement then goes to the rod that works the brake system. I too have the rod operated Snakey so am not sure exactaly what it would look like on a disc one. I may be teaching you to suck eggs, but the weight of the trailer causes an inertia, so as the tow vwhicle brakes the weight of the trailer wants to keep it moving . As it slides down the tow eye bar compressing the spring, the spoon comes into contact with the back of the eye and is pushed on activating the brakes.
  9. As Joris mentioned, we are just at the stage of collecting componets.
  10. There are companies that will rebuild, reline brake cylinders if yours are leacking. As for bleeding them I'd sugest something like a Gunson pressure bleeder. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_204645_langId_-1_categoryId_255216 or similar. The air presure from a tyre is used push the fluid through the system. Very useful on other vehicles as well.
  11. As for the Aligator, well you know Rosie was bending our ears about handbags....
  12. You do ocassionally see Discret armoured civillian vehicles for sale at Withams. But always 'For export outside the EEC'.
  13. So he's into his second childhood! It's a Bloke thing you know.

    Still can't get the smileys , so can't blow you a Rasberry!:-D
  16. To be more exact, your MAIN job must be driving. Our engineers have D licences to move the vehicles to and from workshop gagrage, and dont need a CPC. If however, as one does, he drives the vehicles 'In Service' with passengers, he has to have his CPC. Both parts of the Driving Licence and the CPC card must now be carried when driving commecrcially.
  17. Welcome, no doubt a lot of questions will be asked of your knowlwdge.
  18. I'm sure you lot have a secret breeding progaramme! Any idea how many were built?

Aggg! Don't encourage him! :-D Happy New Year!
  20. The CPC I have is because I drive a PCV, however, the it also covers ALL the C & D categories so the course is generic. I did mine on the job, but I know Dave Ives did his so he will know more about commercial providers. If your main job is driving anything in the C or D catgory in a proffesional role, you must now have a valid Driver's CPC. There was a 5 year grace for those who held the catrgories before the the introduction, that has now run out. As Snort says you just have to attend! And it is currently classroom based, ie a waste of space! The result is a little blue card like the solid driving licence, however changes appear to be happening there as well. Due to time you'll have to do the 35 hours in one hit, then it can be spread over 1 day a year, as long as by the time of renewal you have been registered the 35 hours.
