  1. Well tell him hitting pipe ends with a computer dosen't make them fit!
  2. One of my few perks of the job is free entry to the museum. They already have a B on static display and have live actors doing living history. I once put one right off by wincing every time they got a Great War fact wrong.
  3. Tick the 'Remember me ' Button
  4. Whats the 9th picture Station Wagon based on?
  5. Others we might ask Why? You, we just expect it!
  6. I think it is important to stress the social and military importance of the humble Pedal Bicycle at the time. Fuel was in short supply, strictly rationed and post war, also rubber was a major statigic commodity. Any use of steel had to be carefully considered , and production time on machinery, so no fripperies. Yet the average person still had to move! To work, to shop, social life. Doctors had to visit patients, Vets, Police, District Nurses, all had to be able to move around, and carry equipment. Look at the cost of these machines, they were over the average weeks wages, not cheap bits of kit.
  7. Saddles were supplied by a number of manudactures, they are an Expendable Item, even a leather saddle will wear out eventually.
  8. Yes the V has the coaster the V* is the one with stirrup brakes at both ends.
  9. The coaster brake is not usual in England, but the BSA Mkv bike did have one, plus a brake block type on the front. I hope to aquire one soon. :cool2:
  10. If both are licsenced in the EU, then is a reciprical import law to allow you to cross borders. You'd have to check with your licence authority.
  11. One important thing to remeber with VAT. It is supposed to be 'On added value ' that a process or transaction adds to the object. So what is the 'Value' of a 70 year old non regitered truck? There is a good case and worth pushing for that the true value is the scrap value, around a couple of hundred quid. Daft thing is my vehicle actually came in from 'Outside the EEC'.
  12. One thing my local DVLA ofice were very helpful about was filling in the import form (Though the vehicle had a previous English registration) There are various exemptions hidden in depth of the text, particullaly for vehicles over ten years old. You can only fill in the information on the form known to you, TO THE BEST OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND BELIEF It would be worth sending a specific set of questions to your local VAT office outling the situation. Then at least you have oficial paperwork to wave about. Avoid do this over the internet! They can rely on the disclaimer on the front of the site. Written paperwork , it is a lot more difficult to change the mind.
  13. Get the form filled in and dated today. Get to Post Office and send by recorded delivery mail to the local DVLA. Your APPLICATION IS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF LEGISLATION .
  14. Something like Photoscape is a free download that batch reduses photos.
  15. Not in those days of innocence!
  16. I've had the VAT question bringing vehicles back from Jersey. On the K3 the VAT was paid at the port. I was asked the value and said 'Well a 65 year old truck, say £250'. The agent said fine and I paid up and went! Katy the WC54 the Custom asked 'How much?' I told them she was a leagacy, they asked 'How long ago' I said one year, They hummed said 'Personal Property, have a safe trip'. So it does depend, be polite and smile!:-D
