  1. I am having a bit of a gloat. I've finally managed to find a GSTP watch, from a local boot sale this morning. It is a Swiss made Recta, black face with Radium hands and figures, complete with the leather strap and T pices. Working nicley and has never been touched. The only issue is the snap on back plate is sligtly bowed in and a bit losse, so will get a real expert to deal with that. The markings are the Broad Arrow G.S.T.P. from 1939/45. GPST stands for Genral Service Time Pice, or Tempary Pattern , or Trade Pattern, take your choice. The question is (Clive? Oh Font of all numbers) The numbers on the outside of the case are F, possibly 0 or leter O , genuine looking poor strike, 22166. Inside the cse, presumably the movment number , is 621242, very clean strike. Is the outside number traceable?

  5. If it the man I think it is, he has also put a V12 Jaguar engine, In a Massey 35 tractor. The clutch had to be weackened, as it kept trying to climb over the back wheels at idle! When asked WHY? his reply was, 'Seemed like a good idea'.

  10. First , the German Arado 234 Blitz jet bomber made two ariel recon flights of the Normandy beaches, the only two the German's ever managed. That was not detected by radar or visual means. Second , wood was probably the only material readily available, it dosen't need sophistacted machinery to work it. Third the jet engines at the time had very low emdurance, the reduced drag of the flying wing configuration increases endurance. There was also the theory that a flying wing was easier to fly,so hopefully a reduction in training time, a vital consideration to the 3rd Reich at that period. So intresting design, but nothing to do with modern tactical ideas. As an aside the German's had some very sophisticted aeronautical gear, including a three metere wind tunnel that was disgused as a barn. The roof elevated whem the tunnel was in use. A lot of kit was taken by the allies, Concorde was designed using a German WW2 wind tunnel. There was a Luftwaffer marked overhead crane at one establishment I know. May well still be there.
