  4. The Muckleburgh collection at the top of Norfolk near Sheringham is a must see on your list of places to visit, it is the Largest UK privately owned Military museum and second largest Tank collection after Bovington, I was there recently and amazed at the quantity of exhibits, armour, artillery, soft skin wheeled vehicles too and everything in restored condition, based at a large former Military site right on the coast http://www.muckleburgh.co.uk/

  6. Made years before the Jeep, it is a 1930's car folding luggage rack, see pics in the link of several similar ones, http://www.classicaccessories.org/cgi-bin/items.cgi?q=42
  7. The MK1 4X2 Morris LRC that used to be on display at Duxford is now at the East Anglia aviation museum Flixton, Suffolk
  8. Preview of forthcoming film "FURY"
  9. Probably not a good idea to use this engine, they are all very old now and were prone to cylinder head and head gasket problems, the Austin Vanden Plas R. FB60 alluminium engine was developed between BMC and Rolls as a variation of the cast iron Military B60 engine but has a shorter stroke, so no doubt had quite a lot of other differences too between the two engines. The FB60 engine was Only ever used in the Austin Vanden Plas R, Rolls Royce were never going to lower themselves and sell any of their car engines to a mass car maker like Austin As for spares situation try Bannisters the specialists in spares for Military Rolls Royce engines, I am sure they will know what or if, any Military B60 parts are interchangable with the alluminium FB60 engine wjrbanister@btconnect.com
  10. Sshh...don't say the "A" word it makes Health & Safety go into panic mode, it should always be refered to as made of a "Traditional" material
  11. The three planes plus others are displaying this week end at Wings & Wheels show Dunsfold airfield nr Guildford Surrey
  12. Thats BT for you, tried phoning them a while ago to report my Brothers phone was out of order, except there is no phone number now for BT!! tried online but as I wasn't a BT subscriber could not report the fault!!.. no problem accessing MLU with Sky internet
  13. That is very sad news, I have known Bernard since pre MVCG days
  14. My late Uncle bought a Morris LRC after the war in new unissued condition, removed the turret, cut windows into the hull and used it as a car It was restored some years ago and is now in the USA
  15. To drain gearbox with the skid plate fitted can be messy as mentioned above, refilling can be worse ...however an easy way to refill the gearbox, first remove filler plug, then remove gaiter from round the gearlever, remove gearlever, pour required amount of oil into the gear lever hole, check for correct level when oil runs out of filler hole.
  16. One reason why GS bodied K9 are now so scarce, a large majority where converted as Breakdown trucks, they where very popular, a cheap 4x4 medium size truck, nearly all had the GS body cut down, shortened or removed, then a lot stood outside for years and the body rotted away
  17. The plate with the serial numbers is from a Canadian contract Willys Jeep quite a bit different in style to the usual plate
  18. When it sold in the Littlefield auction description was it was restored in the UK and last appeared here at Duxford show, think it may have been at W&P years ago too, so more than likely is the same vehicle
  19. The Kraus Maffei used in the original film The Dirty Dozen, made in the late 1960's belonged to the Armourers and film prop hire Bapty & Co, it had been in their possession for some time in a non running state as was apprently renovated for the film, was possibly the same one sold in 1950, don't no where it is now though
  20. BTW, CJ axles have a lower axle ratio to the ww2 axles, so good for towing but needs more engine revs for same speed as an MB/GPW, my Brother is rebuilding an early CJ2 and is fitting crown wheel & pinions from MB/GPW axles, I think your Dana 44 rear axle has a bigger differential so can't interchange the diifs from MB
  21. Its an Austin 7 front axle, identified by the holes at the end of the axle beam are for the radius arms, and above can just make out the spring shackle holes for the transverse leaf spring it would of had. Pre war, 1930's the Military had Austin 7 radio cars, The axle is not that rare, and in that state not really worth anything
  22. RNHF Sea Fury suffered engine and undercarriage failure
  23. Apparently it is Not possible to change the registration, or transfer the reg number from vehicles of the type NOT MOTable eg. tracked vehicles, agricultral vehicles, tractors & plant, mowers, rollers etc also can't change Q plate registered vehicles https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registration-numbers/transferring-a-registration-number So you can't put a personal reg number on your 1/2 track, CVRT, Sherman etc, or no hope of transfering your ideal reg. number off an old tractor!
  24. I've been down this route too, same answer, DVLA say any transfer of a cherished number either applying it to, or removing it from or transfering it to another vehicle the vehicles have to be MOT'd, even exempt historic ones, just to squeeze a bit more money out of you for the MOT plus the transfer fee!
  25. Here is another with filter on other side http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-army-S6-MK-2-Gas-Mask-respirator-1972-HAVERSACK-/121394846819?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item1c43b25c63
