  6. Many years ago I did a Skol Lager promotion with a DUKW modified to look like Hagars Viking long boat with mast, sail, and figurehead. we drove it around to various shows and Pub promotions, Whilst base in Hull we drove it over the Humber bridge, we stopped at the Toll, the official asked what is it?..a Viking long boat we replied, ..does it carry anything?....Vikings!, how many are onboard?..none...the official called the control room for guidance, ..He says its a Viking long boat, what do we charge? there were many puzzled officials looking down at us from the control tower through their binoculars, the traffic meanwhile was queing up behind, after much haggling and ...get that thing out of here we got away with a car rate charge !

  11. Did a bit more research, and I my thoughts were correct, the front plate is from an Americar engine as used in pre war Willys cars, so if your engine was 1945, presume someone put an MB Jeep engine into the earlier Willys car
  12. No Richard, they used the conventional Jeep front plates
  13. Yes correct, but its not the usual Jeep engine front plate shape, those odd engine mounts and no dynamo mounting hole, the Willys engine was used for lots of other applications..its not from the post war pickup or industrial/generator engine, they still used the conventional Jeep plate with angled engine mounts, presumably the plate is from some other application, or.. the pre war Willys car that used the Americar engine, which was re designed to become the Jeep engine
  14. The NOVA procedure applies to ANY barn find vehicle registration application that has no ID or paperwork even if its of UK manufacture and never left the country, they are treated the same as an import. Read the thread on here of the long story of the trouble RMS had trying to register a Bedford OX
  15. A rare find, unused since disposal sale, still showing the lot number http://www.milweb.net/webvert/76733
  16. HMRC statement regarding registering vehicles for NOVA scheme for vehicles with no paperwork already in UK prior to start of NOVA scheme, there is no duty or VAT charged. http://fbhvc.co.uk/about-us/news/_article/22/hmrc-issues-guidelines-for-registering-restoration-projects-imported-prior-to-nova/ DVLA will require the vehicle to be verified to confirm its year of manufacture, no MOT is required now

  20. The WW2 Hippo originally had four 6 volt batteries located under the drivers seat, I ran mine on two 12volt batteries, it uses a split 12/24volt system, 24volt for the starter, and 12volt for lights and ancilleries and charging
  21. Here is a link to the WW2 Dodge forum that has a comprehensive list of Military History related museums in Germany and Europe, including links to the Munster Tank museum http://forum.ww2dodge.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12386
  22. The film sequence is not really any help, its about uncovering a Series E Morris 8 tourer thats been in a garage for years, the so called expert who uncovered it did not even really know what the car was, thought it was possibly ex RAF because it had been painted a blue/grey colour ..rather unlikely as there were no markings or anything to indicate a military connection
  23. Post about a genuine Austin 10 Staff car, the actual car pictured in Bart Vanderveen's Fighting vehicles directory, revised edition. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?31012-austin-10-1939-staff-car&p=348267#post348267
