  1. Wot about a garage felting party, beer and curry provided after....
  2. I used to play on those as a kid. Great fun catapulting stones at them, never hurt anyone but people would probably kick up a fuss these days. Is the old sunken mulberry harbour still visible off the Dungeness coast?
  3. The obvious question is.......'Are ya buyin' or selling?'
  4. Now a Fox running around without a turret - like a Ferret Mk1. That would be something.
  5. Yep, I used the Ferret today. It generally comes out a few times a month for work and other trips.
  6. ......that is compared to historic aircraft. I have recently been fortunate enough to have a flight in a Jet Provost MK V from North Weald, courtesy of Ken Lyndon-Dykes; who was at the Headcorn bash. An initial meeting resulted in an invitation to fly the JP with Ken out of North Weald last weekend. I had never flown a jet before but it was a sweet little aircraft and a joy to fly - no vibration and very little noise. It goes very well, running on just paraffin. A lot of paraffin actually - in 45 mins we used over 500 quids worth! But, we did manage to see most of Kent during that time, including the Thames estuary at 300 feet and 240 knots. Many thanks to Ken who let me drive most of it apart from the take off and landing. Lucky guy, he has two of them.
  7. Val here: Only because he won't let me have a puppy!! Now We're even.
  8. I've just shown Val and she has said 'No'......(sulk)
  9. A brilliant pilot, his book 'Aerobatics' is a right good read and his beat up of West Malling in a Mosquito will ive in my memory for ever.
  10. That may have been useless knowledge but it was my 200th and earned me promotion.....
  11. In the early Robin Hood films, the sound of arrows was a stretched rubber band being 'pinged' - played in slow time.
  12. Going in the post this weekend. Been meaning to ebay them for ages........
  13. On closer inspection, there does not appear to be a striker in place above the lever. so it could be not live or a misfire. Is there anything in the top hole on the other side of the lever?
  14. Yep, thats british and live....... Dont pull the pin out. The 'M' denotes waterproofed. The bottom plug should unscrew, exposing the detonator, which can be removed but beware of picric acid crystals which can be very unstable. Options are, chuck in a lake, pull the pin and chuck in a lake, unscrew the base if you feeling brave..... or give it to the local expo. The police will be able to contact them. Nice find though, I have some lovely deac ones. Something like that would go for £50 at Beltring.
  15. I have a pair of small 2way radios, which take 3x aaa batteries. range is about 1-2 km depending on area. Free to a good home. Just pm me your address. Original poster has priority Dave
  16. Own up. How many on here have tried to increase that figure - at any time during or after service! I have - but I can neither confirm or deny any success
  17. They will never bring back hanging - so there is no point in asking. But what about the stocks or the cane, as in the far east?
  18. If the old boys caught them it would be enough - they probably wouldn't ned our help. In maidstone a few years back, a scrote tried to rob a bowler hatted gent on the high level bridge near Maidstone Barracks station. Held him up at knifepoint. The former Commando broke his arm and frogmarched the little sh@t into the police station.
  19. I didn't know you had met my ex girlfriends!
  20. Now we know the driver survived....I cant believe no-one has asked about the Ferret!
  21. Oh no! Really. Are they going to get every deac registered. That is going to cost a fortune and really kill a lot of the hobby.
  22. Clive Let us be grateful for all the information and memories that you were able to get from him and realise that helping you also gave him a lot of pleasure.
  23. 1000 posts indeed. Well done chaps. I know my place (sigh)
