  1. I think there should be a new motoring offence of 'Driving like a tw@t'. It is uncontestable and requires no evidence. 3 points and £60 fixed penalty; m'lud he was driving like a tw@t. Ah yes, I know exactly what you mean - guilty.
  2. SLOW DOWN, when there is 15 tons of 432 coming down a narrow country lane towards them. Tw@ts........ and breeeath deeply. Gave Mark Heliops a hand with the WLF today and although we didnt unbolt a great deal, we got it in position for the main assault on the engine, which involved towing it and backing into place with the 432. Well, seeing as it was out and running Mark decided to go for a spin 'round the block'. Hmmm, dammed big block mate! Loads of the lanes round Paddock Wood 'aint too wide when you stick an APC on it and these people have no idea how much space we need. Brilliant afternoon Mark, do it again sometime. David
  3. Awww Mark. Nothing but bad luck mate, really sorry to hear it. I have a couple of new sets of overalls that you, or guests, may wish to use. Give me a bell when you are going to be there and I will try and get over to the farm Best Wishes David
  4. Ok I give up. Where is the rest of it? :rotfl:
  5. Well done, that is the sort of moment that makes it worth while.
  6. Well done chaps, thanks for that.
  7. I set the trip odometer to zero when I got the Ferret and now I wish I had kept a record of how much juice has gone in over the year. Quite happy with the 500 odd miles so far, the number of smiles per mile is more important than the number of £££'s. Mind you, going up Bluebell hill or Detling hill near Maidstone must knock the average down a bit.
  8. So tell me Steve, have you got much left that still works (snigger)......

    How Much....

If anyone has a spare copy, let me know. For GFO 875, not for profit. I would like one for my records. Cheers
  10. Ok you guys, how do you begin to recover some of those, or are they just left there?
  11. What with fuel prices going up the way they are, I imagine a full can would soon be nicked now.
  12. Well done Paul, one up on me by doing it on the road. I did mine in a field. You do need the senior local examiner to agree to the test being conducted off road, but he was the one doing it.... Mark Heliops, if you are there and want to do yours, he is a contact of mine. Dave

    How Much....

Did anyone on here buy 'The Ferret Scout Car ' book which has just sold on ebay. Including postage it was nearly £80 for a paperback!!! Nice to have though.
  14. Thanks for that Chris, he can whistle at that price. Especially as I dont have the correct armour to hang it on.
  15. I heard the gauge was faulty........
  16. Thanks John, most interesting and GFO 875 will benefit. I think this would be a one-off job and worth while doing in the long run. I can then sell the old tyres + rims. dave
  17. NO, no, no. It was given to me by a mate and told to make him an offer. I topped out at £100 but HE wants £500 for it. So it goes straight back. Shame really as I had just made up a battery pack for it and it works well. What is it meant to fit anyway? Cant see it going in the Ferret.
  18. Said the 'SUPER MODERATOR'........Does that some with its own cloak and badge?

  20. Just what I thought.....best I chuck it in the tank then. Thanks lads. Mark ,What have you done?? 'Err - I call someone when the Ward runs out of fuel. - Sorry Mayhem.'
  21. Thanks Chris, I accept what you say about not an easy job but I want to ge the tubes done anyway.

    Tarpaulins

Thanks Grasshopper, I was wondering how much a canvas one would be (checks wallet). Where would I get a large sheet of plastic? Builders merchants....

    Tarpaulins

My Ferret stays out in all weathers on the front lawn (understanding wife) and it is covered in an old lorry tarp. This is getting a bit tatty now and letting too much water. Does anyone know of a good source for a replacement. Not that keen on plastic as it does not last and makes too much noise when its windy. Cheers Dave
  24. There is an old one near me in a garage sale for £5 with a screw top and (I think) 'valvoline ' embossed on the top. Dave
  25. Can I have some thoughts please. I have just replaced all 4 tyres on the Ferret with nearly new runflats but the wheel rims are not as nice and a couple of the inner tubes need new valve outers. How much of a pain is it to change tyres / rims. In an ideal world I would like to put all 4 'new' tyres on the original rims and fit new inner tubes. Second question - can I still buy inner tubes and what size is needed? Cheers Dave
