  1. Dont do what the chap did at W+P last year. He jumped off a tank forwards, caught his trouser leg and did a face plant from about 8 feet up. Smashed his face, broke both arms badly and nearly broke his neck.
  2. Sometimes we need a reminder as to how monumentally stupid some drivers really are......
  3. There is a guy on ebay selling vinyl markings for afv's especially Ferrets. Both he and the guy who prints them are friends of mine. If you need a one off made up then Rick will do it. Drop Clive (on ebay) of me a message. Dave

Welcome to the club - great innit. Smiles per mile is unequalled.
  5. We used to strap 19 radio sets to ours. Had to be the most awful back carrier ever designed
  6. Rob, Looks like you have a fab workshop there. Do you refabricate all the parts yourself or get them done for you? Dave
  7. Ok Tony, I give in........... there was a smiley attached. How do you get on with military stuff in the emission zone?
  8. Yep, I've got one of those screens. I will post pics when I can but visibility is not a huge problem.
  9. Kent?.......Nah mate, Orpington counts as London - its inside the 25. Thats the dark side over there!
  10. Welcome Brian, where in Kent? I am just South of Maidstone. Dave
  11. I remember they pulled the bunkers down from the cliff edge on sheppey at Warden point a few years ago. I suppose they are still down on the beach.
  12. As long as it has a bath (hot), carpet on the floor. Warm, dry, no noisy neighbours. Electricity for the hair dryer / straighteners. Well stocked bar nearby....... W+P almost fits the bill perfectly...... Unlikely me thinks.
  13. Robin, I bow to your knowledge. Regards Dave
  14. I've had mine nearly 3 years and its the first time Val has plucked up courage. Maybe she will have another go at W+P...
  15. I would be surprised if the airflow would turn the vanes at all, let alone resulting in any speed which would cause damage. Bearing in mind that the oil is needed when they are turning at many tens of thousand rpm and at high temp. The flow has got to work its way through the exhaust baffles, up the manifold, through a max of a couple of small valve openings, through the inlet manifold, turn the turbo vanes and presumably out through the air filter. If folkes have experience of it - then ok - but I would be surprised. Dave
  16. What a wonderful day today. Uncovered the Ferret and took it for a blast to dry off the winter snow. For the first time, Val had a go.....on a quiet country lane near us. I think getting in and out was harder than the driving.
  17. A few years ago a mate of mine on the RAF police security let me have a look over them one evening. There were 3 Phantoms in fairly good nick ie instruments and bang seats still there - but the control columns had been removed. One of them was ZE 360 - Flight Lieutenant Hargreaves. There were also a Wessex and a Jet Provost there. He offered me the control column from the JP but I didn't take it.........OH well. I think they have burned all the Phantoms now though.
  18. I will stick up a couple of photos when it arrives.

Dont get me wrong, we had a good time but it was not as different as I expected it to be from last time, for that amount of investment. Still, at least the lottery money has been put to a good cause.
  20. Thanks Andy - Got it...... I had already tried fleabay but not found it.
  21. Thanks Mike, I would have thought the guy selling them would have mentioned that.
  22. I have been hunting the net with no success, does anyone do a scale model of the Ferret. I know about Accurate armour but that is nearly £60 for a plastic kit and I really wanted a metal one. Failing that, I am looking to do my own in brass or ali if I can get some plans with the dimensions on. Dave

I have just had a few days in sunny Dorset for the wifes birthday and we had a trip to the Tank Museum (not on her birthday!). It was ok but I did wonder where all the 16 million was spent. It only seemed to be one new hall. Anyone else feel that £11 was a bit steep?

  25. Hear hear. Never hand in your own hat if you can avoid it.................
