  1. Thanks for all the info folks.......Looks as though that is a non starter then.
  2. ok Lee, Humour me here. What about on single shot only with the .22 conversion kit fitted?
  3. When an SLR is deactivated (old style), is the barrel slotted and plugged? Is it possible to have a live firing SLR on an FAC and does anyone have one?
  4. The ejector seat used to be in the living room, its now been sold (the seat).
  5. We have just fitted a new downstairs loo in the house. Now the dust has settled, there comes the important stuff; namely the fixtures and fittings. Fortunately, Val wanted a light pull with a bit of weight in it. 'What about that bullet on your desk' sez she! A few minutes later, we have a .50 cal round with the nose drilled through and a bit of lead in the base, dangling in the lower throne room.... Whatever next.
  6. Fanbloodytastic. What a sight and sound that must have been. There wont be too many more like that.
  7. Oh man, that was one of the most painful things I have ever done. Nearly caught it but it chopped the top of the finger. Lost the nail , nearly lost the finger, its still slightly numb 18 months later.
  8. Hi Richard, There is a very active group of (mainly Ferret) owners in Yalding. Come and see us at W+P. Cheers Dave (Maidstone)
  9. Get a decent one, if you are unsure then get someone on here to inspect it. Depending on where you are in the country, I have a couple of contacts who will helpout. Easy to drive and smiles per mile is huge. If you are asking on here then your interest indicates you will not regret it.
  10. Wow, I would have thought it would easily stop .303 or 7.62. Lord B, you surprise me that a .50 cal would go straight through.........what would it take to stop a round that big?
  11. Well done Rob, just shows that they are still out there. I guess it is deac and not live firing?
  12. The problem I have with just a 'donate' button is that loads of folks will not bother and it will be funded by the loyal few. I also think that this will revenue will fall off rapidly over time and we will be back to square one. The problem with members only is that it might put off new joiners until they realise what benefits are available. Just a couple of thoughts from me. apart from that - sign me up to Pathfinder. Realistically, if the total cost is shared between the membership then it will be manageable. See you all at W+P Dave
  13. Just checked. The listing has been pulled
  14. Come on Jack, no need to quit just because you knocked tea over the computer
  15. The date for new licences issued covering only B + B1 ie no grandfathers rights is 01/01/97
  16. I cannot explain it but i have heard of other cases. Whatever causes it, the battery is totally fubared - but I guess you already knew that.
  17. Gary, A vehicle should display a tax disc as failure to display - even nil rated, is a £60 ticket but a lot of MV owners dont bother. Personally I do as it helps smooth things over in event of a stop. There is no paper work to prove mot exempt unless you wish to carry a copy of the regs exempting your vehicle or a copy of the V112g. I can mail you copies if you pm me your details. If the vehicle is already registered with dvla then you can apply for new paperwork. 5 weeks does seem a long time, are you sure the previous keeper sent it off ok? Hope this helps. Dave
  18. Delighted to see a surge in membership, looking at all the new members introducing themselves. Where are they all coming from? My insurance company told me about HMVF as a way of getting a discount.... Has there been a recruiting drive - offering the Kings shilling perhaps.
  19. wow brilliant find. I offered to helphim put the engine in but you guys will make it much easier.................(for me)
  20. Brilliant Adam, just brilliant.
  21. 'Fraid not Bodgedeep, they are only .30 cals - for me Ferret. One to show (and a spare just in case)
  22. Dont remind me. I rebuilt my Honda CB 200 engine on the dining room table while my mother was away. She went spare when she found out and that was years later.
  23. There are some people, at work for instance, that may view our hobby through doubtful eyes. Whispered comments "He's a bit eccentric". My wife and I were tidying up the house prior to having some dinner guests round later tonight, when she heard me carrying something heavy upstairs. "Are you ok love?" she asks. "Yes thanks, just putting a machine gun up in the loft" "Ok" She replies, not turning a hair - completely accepting it as normal. It would have made no difference if I had said "Another machine gun" either, as there are several up there. So the question is......... What is normal in your house?
  24. lovely gun. I turned down an armourers cutaway for under £200 a while back because I did not have the money - still kicking myself now!
  25. Absolutely brilliant. Enjoy Are we the only ones who think we are normal rather than eccentric? I know most folk at work think I am a bit odd because I drive a Ferret.
