  1. No worries! Might be worth speaking to 'Vehicles of Victory' in the States; at one time they had quite a few
  2. There you go, Martin! Since this photo, I've repaired, blasted, painted, and fitted it. I will try to remember to get a current photo tomorrow for you
  3. Hi Shane, no thread on the Chevy restoration, I may start one later. Happy to email you a few photos if you're interested?
  4. Looking good there, Malcolm! Fastest ever Chevy restoration (mine is the slowest!)
  5. Hiya Jerry, I didnt realise you were on HMVF. Nice to see you at Stoneleigh, albeit very briefly! Sorry cant help with the Kurogane, but will keep my eyes open for you. Hope to see you at Beltring for a beer?
  6. Hi Shane, it certainly is going to be a big job. I wont be starting it for some time though, I need to finish the Chevy restoration, then the jeep, but in the meantime I will continue to hunt for bits and info on the Napier. Cheers :-D
  7. Hi Ben, sorry for the late reply. That worm shaft is a very nice piece of work! In my head I had a figure up to a thousand pounds to get a new one machined for mine, so thats about right. I havent had a chance to open up the diff to check condition of the rest of it, not sure what horrors I will discover when I do! Thanks for posting those bits :-D
  8. Hi mtskull, the yard you describe sounds a lot like Potter's, who over the years had a lot of very interesting vehicles through their gates
  9. nptimber on this forum was a big help with tracking down the second chassis, as well as Tim (who has been a huge source of help throughout). I am starting to think that the model I have, which I believe to be the B62 is a lot scarcer than I realised. I have made contact with a few Napier lorry owners worldwide, but I've yet to hear of another B62, other than a very stripped chassis in Oz. It may be that when mine is done it will be the only restored example. Happy to be corrected on this though! Thanks for the Ben H recommendation, I will make contact with him.
  10. Hi Tony, yes, very pleased indeed. The diff was probably the biggest hurdle, and although it isn't complete (input worm shaft missing) I'm still a huge way ahead. Whilst I'm still on a roll, wonder if I can find an engine? :-)
  11. Time for an update! Have been chasing a second 30 cwt chassis; after a little 'Google Earth detective work' I managed to track it's location down, made contact with the owner, a deal was done, and a couple of weeks ago she was brought home. Springs are shot, but wheels are good, chassis is good, and most important of all, I now have a differential! :yay:
  12. Hi Mike, that rear chassis section is a work of art, loving it! :-D
  13. Hi Rosie, they were yummy! And thanks for lunch xx
  14. Sorry Malcolm, my day was mental! But here is my floor section, not a great photo but it does give you some idea. Gives you a rough idea of the kind of condition my truck was in when I started! I have other pics if there some detail in particular you need. Bear in mind there are quite a few different floor panels, the difference being the slots on the driver's side for levers to come through. The number (and position ) of slots is dependant on the model; Cargo less winch - no slot, cargo with winch - one winch, tipper less winch (as I have) two slots, tipper with winch - three slots, etc, etc. Hope this helps, apologies if you already knew all this :-)
  15. Hi Malc, yes, pretty sure I have a photo of mine here . Give me an hour or so and will go digging and upload it
  16. Hi Alec, welcome aboard, you're in good company because we're all a bit out there :nut:
  17. Quite possibly Tony, but I wonder how many were lost to shelling? I'm sure black and white painted pigeon lofts made a superb target for the enemy! :nut:
  18. A few more photos........... Top photo of the Rear Nearside looking forward, evidence of green paint on the rear axle banjo area Lower photo showing Rear Offside brake drum and spring leaves.
  19. I've dealt with Dirk a few times now, I'm not sure if you know but this isn't his main business, the main business keeps him very busy. Try the phone, and be prepared to keep trying. The wait will be worthwhile as his parts are good quality, his prices fair, plus hes a really good guy who wont stitch you up.
  20. Looks like it was another good event this year; wish I could have made it there, but fingers crossed for next year! Unusual to see two Chevys at one event. The first one I've seen around before, but the second is new to me (the one without canvas), she's a stunner, hope my tipper will turn out as pretty as that!

    Snow 2012

Its snowing here too now! Hopefully it will still be tomorrow, so my little lads get to see it for the first time!
  22. So, a few more photos showing a little more of the detail of the chassis; Rear off side forward shackle pin and brake linkages. Some old paintwork on the rear axle visible, looks more grey in daylight than blue as in this photo. Traces of drab green elsewhere Front near side chassis view, I think the alloy plate with a bolt through it could be the radiator mounting? A very empty space in the rear axle = No differential.
  23. Welcome to the forum! My first MV was an M38A1, really good jeeps!
