  1. Just my opinion, but I would leave the guard on if you can. I know there's a lot less risk from flying debris with a flappy wheel that an abrasive wheel, but even so the periferal speed is still high. Also stops your fingers ending up touching the disc inadvertently. Gloves will only protect you so much. I have a few scars on fingers from discs rotating at high speed; your choice, but I know what I do now I've learnt lessons the hard way. Hope this helps!
  2. Do we have dates for the 2015 event? I've looked at their website but it didnt make it clear
  3. Hi Bryan, third photo, centre of frame and to the right of the yellow bus is an AEC Matador 0853 (assuming it's a 4x4 and not a 6x6 0854). Without knowing the reg. no. couldn't say if its survived, but happily a good number have, this could be one of them

  9. My company sounded the fire alarm for 2 seconds at 11-00am and and again at 11-02am. Very proud to say everything and everyone stopped for that period, in complete silence
  10. Hi Gordon, sorry its been so long, minor house disasters including water tank failures have kept me busy for far too long. Slow progress on the Napier, however I have had luck collecting parts together, including head lamps, side lamps and rear lamps, some of which are WD stamped (very nice), as well as a full set of lamp brackets front and rear. Currently trying to track down a sterring box and column which may have surfaced, I'll keep you posted. Work should start on a shed at the bottom of the garden in a couple of months so she can come home, finally! My PM inbox now has some room after I deleted a few messages!
  11. Hi John, I believe there is a K9 GS on the Isle of Wight, painted RAF blue
  12. Hi Bob, try a marine chandlery, as they sell gland packing to seal propeller shafts on motor boats (I resealed the hydraulic rod on my Chevy tipper with this material) Hope this helps
  13. If anyone hears of a Napier engine or gearbox could you let me know?
  14. Hello Rosie, cheers! Looking forward to seeing you and the clan on Saturday
  15. Hello all, very little activity from me on the Napier of late, mainly due to buying a new house, but happy to report yesterday I have made a big step forward, in the shape of a radiator. I am one VERY happy boy!
  16. One word - Wow! Looks like a superb book, Tim; I will be tracking down a copy soon
  17. Hi Paddy, do you have any remains of the original rubbers? If yes, there are at least two ways you can go; 1 - go to a rubber specialist such as this one, http://www.portmererubber.co.uk/ 2 - go to a classic parts supplier such as; http://www.frost.co.uk/rubber-seals.html Hope this helps, and good luck with the K9, they're a great truck.
  18. Hi Alix, great to finally meet you at War and Peace, sorry I could'nt chat more but my two little lads were being 'challenging'! The CA looks great, keep up the good work!
  19. Vulture, as far as I know the open cab seal is the same as the closed cab seal, which in turn is the same as the civvy cab; for my Chevy I bought a repro seal from Jim Carter truck parts in the states, not expensive. http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/product.asp?prodid=CB108&i=|cowl|||42| Hope this helps
  20. What an amazing film, never seen that before. And the first time I've seen film of a Napier actually moving! Looks like the 3 tonner, the bigger brother to mine. Thanks Tim!
  21. I still can't believe how lucky we were with the weather; I drove to work this morning (fifteen miles away from the show site) in the pouring rain! Another great event, well done to the commitee
