  1. I think I have 3.25x19 front, 3.50x19 rear, Dunlops. Look fairly chunky but with good road holding and rain clearing abilities
  2. Hello Chris/Nigel et al, A&E was a riot, I had the time of my life helping with escorting the convoy on my 5SW. I will post a picture of her next week, I wont try right now, as I'm overseas with work, in the middle of nowhere with dodgy internet signal. You may want to make contact with Brian Tillen, a Triumph specialist in Dorset, who knows 1930s - 1950s Triumph singles and twins inside out, top fella. The comment re rubber work on pre 42 Triumphs I believe to be 100% correct, bikes up to this year having rubber knee grips, foot peg rubbers, hand grip rubbers, etc. There were two luggage racks, with a slight variation, one rare, the other very rare! The slightly more common variation does turn up occasionally at bike jumbles, and as far as I know exactly the same as the civvy version of the 1930s. Nice looking bike you have there Chris.

    more sad news

I found out a couple of hours ago, I was having a cup of tea with him and Jane only a couple of weeks ago. Can't take it in. RIP mate.
  4. Maybe I imagined it, but it sounds like a better idea than paying for it myself :nut: :nut: :nut: So, do we have a decision then, boys and girls? Early evening or AM before the arena events start?

    What to buy

A token german vehicle from WW2, lets say a Kubel or Zundapp, definately a half track, Daimler Dingo, Humber MK 2 armoured car. Or instead a 1970s Peterbilt tractor unit and low loader trailer to haul the existing stuff around, hubba hubba Now, where did I leave that lottery ticket
  6. Hi Dave, whats the latest on the resto? Just a suggestion, dont scrap the tub until you have sourced a replacement, quite a few specific features on these trailers, even a rusty part is still useful as a pattern. Have you tracked down a date for her yet? Maybe around 1954 judging by the 'BL' reg?
  7. Rasmus, is this an annual event? The reason I ask is that I was in Esbjerg on business back in January, and would like to return to Denmark for a family holiday at some point. This would be a great event to visit during a holiday!
  8. Hi Giles, what's an EB? If you've never been to War and Peace it may be seriously worth considering, if you're into MVs it's certainly an experience
  9. I restored my old 'EL' registered Rover 8 in Aden markings back in the 1990s, partly because a lot of the EL series of vehicles seem to have lost their army history cards (therefore it's history was unclear), partly because I too like desert yellow vehicles, and partly because in our local club we had two Aden veterans. One of these vets (11th Hussars I think? Can't recall exactly) supplied me exact details of markings applied to GS Landies, for his troop the colour was all over stone, but he was very specific in stating full gloss, not matt. Some of the pics in this thread seem to back this claim
  10. Jack, I'm not sure I will be alive on Sunday morning, as I plan on you and Kev H getting me horribly drunk in Ginger Gammon's beer tent the evening before. So, maybe an evening shoot more likely to get a good attendance?
  11. Thanks Neil, I didnt realise it had already been done! I like it, will print a couple out for Beltring
  12. Just a thought, but has anyone considered compiling an HMVF vehicle information sheet, the sort of thing you put in the windscreen at events? A4 size, with HMVF logo, similar to the IMPS/MVT versions, but with space to put your forum name at the top. This would make it very easy for forum members to make themselves known to each other at shows. Your thoughts?
  13. Vince, Neil, Eddy, 109, cheers chaps, lets make it happen!
  14. Hi Vince, didnt realise it didnt work out very well last time! Ok, shall I suggest a time and we work from that, everyone in agreement? Jack, is this ok? Main arena, Thursday 6pm? Wow, I sounded really decisive then........
  15. Sorry, I mean the group photo in the arena, I wasnt very clear!
  16. Apologies if this has already been discussed and I have missed it, but are there any plans for the forum get-together at Beltring this year?
  17. That's a nice project there Nigel! Good luck with it!
  18. Jack, count me in on the Triumph doing outrider duties again (that is unless I can get the Chevy finished in time!)
  19. Dammit! It used to be brilliant on canvas!
  20. Thanks Smithy, very kind of you
  21. Just started using Cherished Vehicles Insurance, I have a mixture of conditions, ie, on the road/project/next project, etc., so far very impressed. Not re-newing with Footman James.
  22. Nice work Deadline, please put me down for a set
