  1. Thanks for all your input everyone, we shall find out for sure in a few days time!
  2. Thanks for posting that, Runflat. I hadn't seen that article before, and a really nice photo!
  3. Hi Malcolm, Rex has handbrake band linings, maybe complete bands
  4. I've posted this on my Napier thread as well; would anyone recognise the make and model of headlight fitted to the front of the Napier in Portugal's photo? I'm loving this thread by the way, very educational!
  5. Hmmm, but us real men don't need the extra axle.............. Thanks Tony, I wasn't 100% sure, but sounds like it should work ok
  6. Haven't posted much about the Napier for quite some time now, but a question; Can anyone identify the make/model of headlight that Napiers used? This photo, as posted by Portugal, shows what appears to be the common type, very clearly. I will post this in the WW1 headlight thread also.
  7. Has anyone ever tried towing a Ben Hur trailer (with it's original lunette ring) with a NATO hook as fitted to Land Rovers, etc? I'm sure I've heard there is a slight difference, and I've never needed to try it, but I may need to tow a Ben Hur soon just for one short journey.
  8. Hi Tony, I think generally the US Chev 1 1/2 tonners were a dark grey from factory, which I believe to be a standard Chevrolet shade of the time, OD being applied after workshop overhaul
  9. Hi Tim, not a snowball's chance in hell of my Napier being there, but if anyone has room for a passenger please count me in, sounds like an amazing trip! Do we have an estimated date? I'm mindful of the 70th D Day anniversary events in early June of that year, hopefully a few months apart? I will start saving my pennies today!
  10. Rich, I need to re-point the brickwork on my house at some point, can I borrow your scaffolding please? :-D Only kidding, nicely done job, I bet it was a real challenge! You will have improved gas flow and therefore an increase in horsepower I should think
  11. Hi NOS, I'm sure I've read that both the wooden wheels and the three spoke 'hard rubber' wheels were both painted OD from factory. Hard rubber early war, wooden late war. Nice Job you're doing there, Malcolm!
  12. Hi Martin, I can get those later this week (should have got them last night, shouldnt I!)
  13. Hi Martin, your Chevy is looking good! I was up at the workshop tonight and remembered to measure the hole spacings for the Chevy rear window guard, they are 9 3/4'' apart
  14. Martin, I was with my Chev last night, forgot to measure the hole spacing, Sorry! Will try again next time
  15. Yes, Definitely. As military vehicles go, yours will be one of the rarest vehicles there. How many other ex forces CA s do you think will be there? Probably none. How many civilian Land Rovers painted camo do you think will be there? Quite a few.
  16. Fernando, she's a beauty! And you have a lot of the important parts there
  17. Hi Rivet, I havent got much in the way of reference material with me currently, but it looks like a Mk2 1/2 tonner, from aprox 1956 - 1958ish. I think Brockhouse also made the mark 2, as well as Sankey, does it have the chassis plate still? Personally I think its well worth restoring, hows your welding ability? Seems a shame to put a later tub on, as these 1/2 tonners are fairly scarce these days, plus yours seems to be fairly complete
  18. Fernando, I wonder how many Napiers were in service with Portugese forces?
  19. Hi Fernando, thanks for posting these! They are superb quality as well, some of the best quality Napier photos I have yet seen, they show detail very clearly :
  20. Hi Fernando, I did'nt realise that! Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures
  21. Hi Shane, I will sort that over the next couple of days for you
  22. Thought you might like to see the 'cherry on the cake' so to speak..........
  23. Martin, picture from today, hope this helps! I had to make all six brackets as the originals were rotten, hopefully they're fairly accurate
