  1. If you are going to run a detergent oil in a bypass filter system, regular oil changes are the way to go. The full mark is there for a reason, there is no point in deliberately topping up to below that mark.
  2. I can guess but no jealousy from me, I'm flying myself up there! :captain:
  3. Right on! The minute it ceases to be so, I'll move on. It is, after all a hobby.
  4. The annoying thing was they weren't my size.
  5. M5 HST :- Both jewel light lenses from the dash, lucky find, Willard battery cell stopper. M75 :- .50 blank, 7.62 blank, .50 burst case extractor. Sherman :- Amazingly, absolutely nothing! Cromwell :- Heaps of .30 cal cartridges and link. Cat D4 :- Two bras and a pair of knickers in the fuel tank.......
  6. Looking good, well done! Just one point, be careful with idleing the engine too slowly, the master rod bearing gets almost no oil below 600 rpm.....
  7. The wording 'This vehicle is filled with antifreeze 1/3-2/3 and must not be drained' was usually seen on British tanks and indeed it was and is on my Sherman. I presume with 27 gallons of coolant, draining everynight was seen as a problem!
  8. The Cromwell tank service instruction book mentions a circle painted round the header tank filler cap to signify antifreeze. The 1943 dated Cromwell I book calls for a blue band and the Cromwell III book, also likely 1943 calls for a red band. The Cromwell IV book just talks of a coloured band but with no actual colour detail!
  9. Bit late with a response to this, it was to avoid plating and testing. When the cut off date was moved from 1940 to 1960, it was no longer an issue. Of course, DVLA no longer accept the owners date information, it requires a letter from an approved source.
  10. White Scout Cars and Half tracks, 12V, anything with a radial engine, 12 and 24V. No ballast resistors as far as I know.
  11. 18 pr Mk IV? They look to me like they traverse across the carriage, never seen that before. Rob?
  12. It's a standard Sherman fitting, used in all models. It takes two US water cans.
  13. The tank bivvies always used to have poles, short ones for the lower edge, none needed against the tank.
  14. Unfortunately the same attitude that makes people think their own stupidity is somebody elses fault seems to extend to thinking that anything on display is theirs to climb over. We were constantly turfing people off our vehicles at Damyns Hall. Most parents were fine about it, the worst was an old lady who moaned about being ''kicked off the vehicles'', she should have known better but I guess some kids have no guidance.....
  15. Is this perhaps an attempt by the organisers to try and get you to accept responsibility for PLI? That is their responsibility is it not?
  16. Alastair is correct, it is the top clamp to hold two water jerricans. They lay on their side.
  17. They can only sell what they can get hold of. Eventually, everything original will be gone, it is a finite source.
  18. Are you painting the inside cream or is that just the lighting?
  19. No flamming from me, whatever that is. I think I'm done here.
  20. I have no problem with either! Whilst I highly value the latter, the former is not for me.
