  1. It's in the handbook but not the parts list. It could be it was introduced part way through production. I can't remember if it was on the one I restored, it was nearly 30 years ago...... I'll have to check my pictures but that was a very late one, S287181. Tow rope is the same as Sherman, I still have a couple spare.
  2. Tim, it's known as the drivers foresight. You line it up with the little notch in the bottom of the hatch opening to give something to indicate the axis of the vehicle. I have a correct towrope for it if you need one.
  3. I can make you one copying mine. Is it just the cable controlled flap you need?
  4. These are my pics. I took these in about 1988. I have sent you high res scans Scott.
  5. I have a very similar picture of it I took about 25 years ago when I nearly bought it! I can scan it tomorrow for you.
  6. As far as I know the conversion was carried out by the Jordanians themselves. Chris told me he set up a demo using parts he had in stock. I understood this to be just the parts connected together, not involving a vehicle. They then ordered fifty sets. He also supplied roadwheels he was buying from Pounds, they came off the Centaur dozers.
  7. Scout car windscreen armour is not rare in the UK.
  8. Rick, Chris only supplied kits of parts for the traverse, there was no general conversion done. Mine still has an engine in eau-de-nil. The rest of the interior including engine bay and gearbox is the pale cream/sand. You can see silver underneath inside but that is the old British Army finish.
  9. White halftrack armour is slightly wider than scout car. Measure the overall length at the top (widest) and that will tell you. Value? What buyer and seller agree......
  10. Being combat tyres, they may have bead locking rings fitted.
  11. Indeed, and it was very nice to see you and your boys in Veghel back in September.
  12. Lauren, I have a couple of Jordanian specific parts left over from mine, which was the mate to yours. Commanders mg mount and box holder and a triangular light of some sort. Let me know if you need them.
  13. Don't DUKW rims have 12 stud holes? The M5 3" gun uses 9.00-20 tyres so they are likely to be half track or M8 wheels. There are two different offsets available, M3A1 scout car and halftrack having a shallower offset than the M8.
  14. I don't believe census numbers were ever reissued. If a vehicle was struck off, it's number died with it afaik.
  15. Good luck, I always say ''Nobody's reputation survives the edit''
  16. I have a small stock of nos engine units for the viscometer if anybody needs one.
  17. The US didn't use RAL colours........ They were painted white, plain white not cream, off white, magnolia or any other colour.
  18. Originally, Charioteer used the same turret traverse as Cromwell, i.e. an engine driven hydraulic system, albeit with a much heavier traverse box. The Jordanian vehicles were modified to a pseudo Sherman system using a 24V (Charioteer was 12V) installation. It consisted of an Oilgear traverse motor, pump and controller powered by seperate batteries charged by a generator in place of the original hydraulic pump. This was all coupled to a Logansport hydraulic motor fitted to the Charioteer traverse box. The complete system was put together by Chris Wilkinson using parts he had in stock. I remember him telling me about it all years ago. ISTR he sold them 50 sets or so.
  19. I think your ones are either home made or possibly a local pattern Tim.
