  1. Looking goog Niels, your well on your way to finishing her now, like you I have to many projects on the go at once.
  2. One of the Bowsers had a makers plate just hanging on by rust alone so removed it to safe storage. Plate says that its a 15cwt trailer rather than a 20cwt but from all the investigation I have done I thought that the Canadian type with 16" CMP wheels were 15cwt and the early British ones with 11:00 wheels were 20cwt ??
  3. 2nd Bowser was towed back to my workshop today after freeing off the L/H brake & wheel bearing.
  4. Hi Tony have you got his number mate ? Ian
  5. Hi Guy I have 3 new (n.o.s) Left Hand frames which I bought off John Morter last year and I am hoping that 'paulbrook' is still going to make some R/H QL frames. if not then I may have to cut up 2 L/H frames to make a R/H but that will be a last resort. Please bring your spare bits to W&P just incase.
  6. Hi Guy I'm now on the lookout for a replacement gearbox, we have decided to remove the sump and cylinder head to start with and go from there. Ian
  7. Despite standing since the early 70s the engine ran very well with no smoke & good compression, clutch & gears worked fine. Messy job over paint stripping and pressure washing, first nasty suprise was a broken lug on the gearbox and a badly chipped gear.
  8. 2 seat trainer version of Hawker Sea Fury
  9. Hi Rob looks like an Austin K5 in the background ?
  10. Good turnout for the Friday evening road run, 40-50 vehicles attended for the scenic drive to Lepe & walk down the beach to the site of the Mulberry Harbours and then on to Bucklers Hard for a Beer.
  11. Well might aswell start off with my 2 vehicles then cracking weather, great relaxed atmosphere and a big thanks to all those that put their own time and money into orgnaising the event. thank you.
  12. After weeks of cold wet weather we finaly managed to remove the QLs engine/gearbox today, now I can concentrate on finishing the rear body and get the chassis/body shotblasted & painted.
  13. Past Parts it is then first thing tomorrow, thanks for your advise guys.
  14. Just got back from a local show today and the rear brake cylinders on my K5 are leaking very badly, Where can I get some new cylinders or repair kits from this week ? I need them by Wednesday at the latest for a show at the weekend.
  15. Were WW2 trailers ever fitted with the brass rebuild plates after the war as none of my 10cwt trailers have then but one of my 20cwt Bowsers has 4 holes drilled in the L/H side of the 'A' frame where one might of been fitted ? If so are genuine N.O.S still avaiable or repo ? Thanks.
  16. The 2nd Bowser was saved today, the wheel was replaced with one from the 1st bowser and the drum had to be removed to free off a seized brake & bearing. The stub axel is stamped V19 R T Ltd 1940 anybody know of this company and do they still exist ?and who made these bowsers ?
  17. Hi Guy I enquired with Allied Canvus last year and they have all the patterns & will make then for you but not cheep.http://www.milweb.net/go/alliedforces/ keep up the good work mate, you should be finished years before me.:-(
  18. Are you aware that there are 4 more come up for sale ? 3 are being sold by a seller on ebay at £150 starting bid & 1 more on milweb, they look more complete & better condition than the one you are chasing at Mamby. This is a link I started a few days ago on this Forum http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?31068-3-WW2-RAF-Fuel-Bowsers
  19. Is this a WW2 bowser ? on a later chassis ? its for sale with a starting bid of £70. less than scrap value.
  20. These are some great photos and text of post WWII, especially meaningful for history buffs. What an explicit lesson about what War does to the world and its inhabitants: http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2011/10/world-war-ii-after-the-war/100180
  21. Hi Steve I don't think they will make one for you mate ? it would be cheeper if you bought a second hand 'A' Frame & cable off ebay and we copied the brackets off my Jeep. Ian
