  1. And another Bowser has turned up in a farmers field not far from me, the chasis has been cut/modified but it has a lot more of the parts I would need to make up one complete unit. I will be asking a friend to make enquiries on my behalf
  2. Contact atlast Spoke to the landowner today and he's willing to sell the bowser but not sure how much its worth ? I have suggested that its only worth scrap value due to the cost of restoration but am willing to pay more inorder to save it. He's going to think on it over the weekend and let me know on Monday.

  4. Thanks Robin its always great encouragement when members reply to your posts, this is the bigest project I've ever taken on so its very slow on my own. I'm also looking for a Canadian 20cwt trailer to tow behind my QL once finished so if you know of one for sale;).

  6. Started the nearside front corner of the cab this morning :cry: hope to get back on and finish it off next week.
  7. Boys can never have enough toys, found this in 'Scotts' workshop reception room.
  8. With the body removed and sheeted up outside for later the cab/chassis is shoe horned into 'Scotts' engineering workshop (note the ceiling removed to gain assess) The rear chasis is shot blasted and primed one section at a time due to limited space.
  9. A member from our North Oxfordshire & Cotswolds MVT club has taken on the massive task of restoring not 1 but 2 AEC Matador lorries. The first one is a 1945 Matador Gun Tractor complete with original rear body but converted to a snowplough/gritter, salt and time have taken their toll. The second one is a 1942 Gun Tractor which missing its rear body and converted to a civilian recovery vehicle. Both vehicles were found in Aberdeen and transported back to Oxfordshire last year.

  11. This corner section took over 4hrs to complete today as its quite complicated & fiddly.

  13. Hi Guy / Niels Blue mudguard is an origional QLR, Green mudguard is from a later Bedford RL, they are both 16" across and have the same pressings but the later one has larger curved corners. I got 4 from Pete Gaine for £10 each and I think he has some left. Hope this helps ? Ian

  19. Hi Sherman I have known of the Bowsers existance since I started flying from the airfield in 1996 but at that time I had no interest in MV's. When I saw that the ground around it had been cleared and all the rubbish in the middle of the field I thought it might be destined for scrap ? I have contacted Ross (land owner) twice but no reply yet, if you can help please PM me as I have transport & land to save it. Thanks Ian

  21. Only a couple of errors :undecided: Scene set in 1938. The Bedford QL pilot model was ready in February 1940 and quantity production started in March 1941. 1960s flashing turn signals on the cab. Star and Circle on the cab roof as US Army markings, a plain white star surrounded by a continuous or broken white circle came into common usage towards the end of 1943 (July) primarily as an aerial identification marking.
