  1. This is all 100% legal at the moment but !!!!!!!! legislation is coming in 2014 which means that vehicles with servo assisted brakes will need some sort of device to maintain a vacuum. I'll take my chance till then.
  2. Not forgotten you. Just checked with the seller and there are 2 pairs left, will reply to your PM tomorrow with their details. Ian
  3. Its a professionally made 'A' Frame by Caratow http://www.caratow.com/system.php which I have addapted to fit my jeep. Its works on the simple principal that an overrun hitch pulls on a fixed cable which in turn pulls the brake pedal down. A simple bracket bolted on the chassis next to the brake master cylinder anchors the outer cable, the inner cable pulls the pedal down. Although very simple in design it took many hours of trial and error to perfect, I will take some more detailed photos tomorrow to show how it works.
  4. Matador on the right is the one that is being restored.
  5. Hi Lynn welcome to the forum, scottb is the new owner of your 2 Matadors but I am posting the restoration photos for him.
  6. Just got back from a wet & windy weekend away at Bath, stayed with the Caravan club at Bath Race Course. 'Millie' goes everywhere with us towed behind on an 'A' Frame and covered almost 3,500 miles last year plus about 5,000 miles on her own.
  7. What a great find and judging by your woodworking skills and the amount of ironwork left it looks like your going to have another 'great war' cart for the collection. looking forward to watching this restoration.
  8. Got a few external shots of the cab just before its dismantled.
  9. Popped over to Scotts workshop today to checkout any progress, spot the cracked rear spring ? this would probably of been missed had he not had it shotblasted.
  10. Do you have any more detailed drawings of the taps & plumbing ?
  11. If you look at the front chassis frame they are very different, the 'U' section is round the opposite way.
  12. Hi Nige what are 18 euros each ? the taps ? this is great news about the plumbing. fingers crossed that I get the second bowser. thanks Ian
  13. Hi Nige any idea where I might get some of those taps and the plumbing ? we might be able to do a deal with a pump ? cheers Ian
  14. Hi Niels.... sling plates on the hubs....yes I have them mate, I just poped the hubs on today to move it.
  15. The wheels on Niels trailer & this photo appear smaller ? and the wheel archs look different ?
  16. The date plate is a brass rebuild plate showing its post war registration number, chassis number, date of rebuild & workshop number. What should the sling plates look like ?
  17. Are the 2 oval trays standard and if so what were they for ?
  18. Had plenty of help today removing the engine / gearbox.
  19. We moved the chassis & body frame today onto a hard standing well away from the hanger & parked aircraft ready for shot blasting.
  20. First Bowser rescued today and safely towed & stored over the other side of the airfield next to my QL, paid £125 which was a tad over the scrap value but well worth saving I think.
  21. Another days work, I finished making the 2 panels and started welding them on, should have this part finished when I get back on with it Thursday afternoon.
  22. Hi Nige if I manage to get both of the bowsers then your name is on one of the pumps. Ian
  23. I'm 52, Motorbike test in 1976 & car test in 1979 never took an HGV test.
  24. Hi Guys this question has probably been asked many times before but I cant find a 'thread' What is the law regarding the driving of historic vehicles and can somebody post me the DVLA link covering the regulations. Am I correct in thinking that I'm legal to drive my 9 ton QL & K5 on an ordinary licence because of their age and that they are not for hire/reward ? Also can I tow a trailer behind them without taking an HGV test ? What happens if I have camping gear in the lorry or trailer ? is this then carry goods ? I have alreay had an issue with a 'know it all'
