  1. Now those could be fun come the long overdue zombie apocalpyse >:-> (Brad Pitt etc filming in Glasgow)
  2. Rest in Peace. You and your family will be in my thoughts.
  3. Ah but you forgot to mention the dams are in Iraq and being defended by the Viet Cong Luftwaffe,
  4. £16 each, then P&P of £6 then VAT on top. They look brand new. Tim Vibert has 3 NOS and 1 take off for sale, however the postage from Australia was the killer.
  5. Bought 4 from Bannisters. Now I just have to get the old ones off and the new ones on.
  6. I remember this being sugggested a few years ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecsEAXNlfv0 "Get yourself a sherman tank. You know it makes sense" (Okay I know it's not really a sherman but hey!)
  7. Very nice. I used to be involved with a local RC boat club, great fun ;-)

  10. Amazing! A barking engine! Good to hear the old girl running and she looks beautiful.
  11. When I first visited Stoneleigh a couple of years ago I was perturbed by the number of nazi uniforms being worn by visitors. To put this into context, in Scotland, we don't have militaria shows and fairs like Stoneliegh and W&P so you could say it was part culture shock. I have no problems with re enactors however I did find the odd one or two dressed as concentration camp guards to be particularly disturbing. On one hand, a couple dressing up as camp guards and calling their dog 'Fritz' could be seen as offensive, however, it could be argued that most people involved in atrocities like the Holocaust were just ordinary people 'just doing their job'. (The banality of evil) Good re enactors should be able to (hopefully) make the ordinary person stop and think. *Apologies if this post is a bit rambling*
  12. I remember the blue ones when I was a kid. I seem to recall being told they could not go out in windy conditions due to them being unstable. Never found out if it was true.
  13. I'll admit to not liking Al Murray's comedy but I did enjoy this programme. He came across as someone who knew a bit about the subject and didn't glorify what happened.
  14. Hi When the engine is running and the forward / reverse lever is pointing in the correct direction, then you can change to the other directon (front to back etc) as long as you do not hesitate in the middle. If your forward / reverse lever is sitting in the middle then you have to turn the engine off to shift it. The gear selecter (1st, 2nd etc) is on the right and let's you choose the gear you want before you need it. The manuals are pretty handy. Another website that has lots of good manuals is http://ferret-afv.org/index.htm You can download a later version of the manual here. http://ferret-afv.org/manuals/3.05.08_1969%20User%20Handbook%20Bookmarked.pdf
  15. Looks very nice, maybe one day *sighs and goes to look in the piggy bank*
  16. Hi. Here is an extract from a post in Ferret Heaven (A yahoo group for ferrets) ** If you get the lever in neutral when the engine is running you must ALWAYS switch off the engine and re engage either forward or reverse (whichever was the one it was in previously) before restarting the engine, never try to re-engage forward/reverse from neutral with a running engine, this will damage things badly. the normal procedure (the same as Ferret or any of these pre selects) is to move the lever fully from forward to reverse (or vice versa) in one continuous rapid but smooth operation without pausing at the neutral spot. The vehicle should be stationery and the engine running at low (ie at or very near idle) revs only, (if you have problems your rev setting maybe too high) *** Remember the pedal on the left is not a clutch, you select the gear you want then push down and pretty much let it come back up by itself. Don't hold it down when changing gear. Ps. Nice looking ferret ;-)
