  1. That reminds me of a story told to me by man who commanded a ferret. After exercise, the crews could not go on leave until the vehicles were cleaned and repainted. So the crews got yard brushes and used them to paint over the old paint, dried mud etc before going on leave.
  2. Someone spent a lot of time and effort moding that Champ. Good to know you've saved it from some 'little darling' or toy restorer.
  3. I've been using a brush with some specially made up paint. Clean and prep the surface (Keeping the original paint if okay) then painting. Since the original paint has what looks like sand mixed into it, I'm never going to get a mirror smooth finish
  4. Sadly it seems that the new head of the Bletchley Park Trust has his own ideas on how to 'manage' the Trust. Here are some links from an IT site called "The Register" http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/02/03/bletchley_park_spat_halts_work_on_lorenz_sz42/ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/01/29/volunteers_slam_plans_to_turn_bletchley_park_into/ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/01/28/bletchley_park_sacks_elderly_volunteers/

That looks like it would be a lot of fun to drive. Hope you have many happy miles together.
  6. Hello and welcome from another ferret owner. Whereabouts are you? Owner of 00 EC 13
  7. Silly question. Would you be able to use one of your current parts to have new ones made?
  8. Fingers crossed. Hope everything works out for you both
  9. This has happened to me a couple of times so far. Some 'person' takes a copy of my ferret from the web (Usually the same pic as my avatar) and places it in an advert claiming it is in (insert country of your choice) and is road ready etc. If I find it, I let the website know but often they don't seem to care. Owner of Ferret 00 EC 13 (and no she's not for sale!)
  10. I'm sorry for your loss. Paint the name of your friend on your vehicle, it's one way of celebrating his life and your friendship.
  11. Sadly it doesn't come with all the bits (But I imagine they are relatively easy to get.) On a semi related note, I found this video about a 'rat rod' jeep. These guys bought one and are taking it to a bar in the desert
  12. Ah but would it be an original plasma cutter? After all you can't go faffing about with a repro one, just not the done thing old sport etc etc
  13. Hope you get it sorted out. Has the seller said anything ?
  14. Perhaps make them out of plastic tubing or steel pipe if your local laws allow? I remember reading (a few years ago sadly and I'll have to dig around to see if I can find them) instructions on how to make plastic pipe smoke dischargers for the ferret.
  15. Also a Mk1 weighs *just* under 3.5 metric tonnes. So you can drive that on a car license.
  16. Remember the Gear Change Pedal is not a clutch. If it's been used as one you can expect gearbox problems
