  1. Original manuals for the 17 pdr are a bit thin on the ground but you can buy very good reprints from Rob van mel,he has a web shop and you can buy online. I have a spare telescopic sight if you need one, just e-mail me. Rob........................rnixartillery.
  2. A worthy cause Dave,well done ! Rob..............rnixartillery.
  3. R+R have been supplying the king of Jordan for quite a few years with armour,He purchased a very nice Renault UE carrier complete with its trailer not so long ago.A very interesting vehicle ! Rob.............rnixartillery.
  4. Sight mount delivered from the states whilst down at War and Peace, quite suprised it got here as the bottom of the box was hanging out when it arrived. After cleaning the lanolin off (which took some doing) I fitted it to the carriage so very pleasing to find another piece to the puzzle ! Its amazing how some of these parts can still be found if you know were to look. Rob.................rnixartillery.
  5. Correct ! shame to butcher such a rare vehicle considering a drive train could have been sourced. Rob......................rnixartillery.
  6. Well,I thought I would re-open this thread from last year regarding the 3.7" Mountain gun.As I have quite an interest in these guns I have been searching hi and low for one to add to my collection and after some negotiation I have acquired the carriage and recuperator of a MKI which was built between 1915 and 1918.Like most it was converted in the 1920's for mechanised transport and fitted with comercial truck wheels and tyres and later went on to serve throughout WW2. Although I only have 60% of the gun I have already tracked down a complete WWI sight assembly in the states which a colleague of mine found in Iraq !.I will also be looking to fit the original wood spoked wheels if I can find a reputable wheel wrights who have patterns. Pics attached. Rob.........................rnixartillery.
  7. Many moons ago I use to collect and restore CMP's ,I visited Mains quite regular for chasis parts and castings etc and had no problems.Anthony Main was very approachable and helpful. One tip is to visit through the winter before the new growth, during the summer every thing is overgrown ! 8. Shortening the trail also changes the angle of elevation which could have benefit in mountainous areas on the down side it also changes the point of balance when towing or manhandling the piece ! Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  9. The guy says it is the largest caliber gun you can keep live as a civilian "in Russia". I think I need to move to Russia ! A section five is required over here but not many people have one. Rob..................rnixartillery.
  10. Use the stripper in the yellow tin Not green, its penatrates the paint better ! Rob....................rnixartillery.
  11. Check it out on 'Youtube'............."The 40mm Machine gun". Rob.................rnixartillery.
  12. The piece still needs a uk de-ac certificate or has to be kept on a section one FA certificate. Although these guns have been heavily chopped they do not conform to UK de-ac specification. Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  13. Good on'ya  Rob.......................rnixartillery.
  14. Got a pic ? Rob....................rnixartillery.
  15. The second picture showes the very impresive French 75,this one being an inter-war conversion.around 2,000 of these guns were given to the US forces during World War one so there are a lot of these guns in the states used as Memorials and salute guns. Many of the guns used for salute purposes had the recuperators stripped out so there is a demand for internel parts for these guns even now. After the war US industry built under licencs just over a 1,000 more 75,s and ironicaly Willys-Overland built the carriages ! Rob.........................rnixartillery.
  16. Excellent stuff Runflat ! Rob...............rnixartillery
  17. It's Amazing what can be found on E-bay,It certainly shot up in price in the last few hours. I informed Mr Butler of it but as long as its in the right hands ! Good luck . Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  18. All well and good if the information is still held ! your first port of call should be Paul Evans who is the Librarian at Firepower. I know through tracing the history of some of my Artillery ,it often leads to a dead end. Good Luck ! Rob....................rnixartillery.

  21. Made a bit more progress to the limber having cut the rot out and renewed the panels.Strange that the back of the limber has gone which would indicate that it has been stood up for quite some time, possibly how it has been stored ! Rob........................rnixartillery.
  22. I think the line that was taken into Deep Cut for storage has been put aside for a future museum project bareing in mind some of this small gauge railway dates back to the First World War ! Rob.......................rnixartillery.
  23. There use to be the same small guage set up at Feldom Range above Richmond but the line was taken up along time ago,Lydd also had one and if you are looking for that line I believe it was taken up last year and is now in storage at Deep Cut.Why ,I dont know ! Rob.................rnixartillery.
