  1. I missed this one ! no its not a British 4.2,looks more Soviet or Chinese to me ? Rob..................rnixartillery.
  2. It would be a waste of a Duster ! Rob.........................rnixartillery.
  3. Unfortunately 17 pdr's very rarely become available for sale so its the sort of item you really have to go and look for and believe me 'they aint easy to find'. Rob.............rnixartillery
  4. Your right there Mike, its quite odd how the gun must have been complete when it was situated on the range. It has its Block, striker and even the run back stop in place. I think it will be a bugger to split, plenty of heat and a rather large hammer ! Rob......................rnixartillery.
  5. Attached are pictures of the 17 pdr I have just acquired which will provide the 17 pdr elements required for this restoration. Some people may recognize this as it has spent a few years outside the Isle of Wight Military museum. Although an ex-range target and by most people "beyond it" :wow: it does have the essentials to complete the Pheasant. Rob..................rnixartillery
  6. I can remember when I was in RR Services old yard one time thay had a selection of French armoured cars although this was about 15 years ago but they must be around somewhere ! Rob...................rnixartillery
  7. I have some spares,pm me a list of what you need.I may be able to help ! I went to a location many many moons ago and saw hundreds of the rubber mud flaps with the beading around the edge, they were all sent to a tip ! Rob.....................rnixartillery
  8. Scorpion at RAF Leeming,North Yorkshire. Rob.............rnixartillery.
  9. The item in the back ground looks familiar ! is it complete ? Rob...............rnixartillery
  10. Boasting again ay.................... ! Rob....................rnixartillery
  11. The 57mm anti-tank gun is 17 ft long so you would need to allow a few spare foot to wrap around the barrel and trail to prevent it dragging the ground. I should amagine the towing light for a Long Tom would be a fair length ! Rob.............rnixartillery.
  12. A few more Howard, one picture shows the projectile boxes quite clearly. Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  13. It is a standard Barrel light used on most US Artillery,if you decide to sell it would you please let me know as I am looking for one to fit to my 57mm anti-tank gun. Rob..................rnixartillery.
  14. Howard, Attached are a few pics, one of some 5.5 rounds in transport crates which are in a friends private collection. The projectiles were stored and transported in ammuntion boxes along with the charges as some pictures show. As you will already know the projectiles were fired from a bag charge. Rob.................rnixartillery.
  15. Excellent Find ! :wow: Rob......................rnixartillery.
  16. Just to keep things on the boil ,17 pounder ordnance has been located and purchased for this project.Once back at base I will upload some pictures. The pheasant project has all necessary componants obtained so I will hopefuly start on the restoration at Easter with the possibility of enough parts to build a second 17 pdr Anti-tank gun. Rob....................rnixartillery.
  17. I thought the same but the scammell threw me a bit. Interesting to think the Israelies run them ! The other thing to note is that the 6 pdr has a welded shield which would make it Australian made. The Israeli forces used the 6 pdr and 57mm guns for a very long time and even manufactured parts and ammunition under license. Rob...............rnixartillery.
  18. Just found this picture of an interesting set up ,International Half track and 6 pdr combination. Rob..........................rnixartillery.
  19. I remove old oil, grease etc with petrol used as a wash, rusted parts are all blast cleaned useing the many types of aggregates available.Bead blasting does a cracking job on aluminium parts. Rob..................rnixartillery.
  20. It was on a need to know basis and you needed to know ! no punishment required.........put the whips away............... Rob......................rnixartillery.

  23. Well ...................I have made a purchase from the Island but I am 300 miles up North so I can get down to portmouth and back in a day but that couple of miles across the water is just a bit too far . I need to get my purchase back to the mainland before I head South ! Rob..................rnixartillery.
  24. I am looking for someone who can collect a 3 ton load from the IOW Tank museum and run it in to a yard at Havant ,a stones throw away so someone in the Portsmouth area would be good. Flat bed or beaver tail would be ideal Any help would be apreciated. Rob....................rnixartillery.
