  1. Alastair,I took a couple of pics of the few rounds I could get too,I have more but they are buried under loads of crap ! Pictured is a C263 ammo box and the 6 pdr tool box that is listed in the spares book,Rounds from the left are APDS,DRILL,HE,AP and another APDS. The second pic showes a very unusual B166 box stenciled to take 6 pdr Blanks, dated '44. If I unearth anymore I will take some snaps. Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  2. I was born and raised at Biggin Hill but had to move up North with my folks aged 14,I can always remember even now how well kept The RAF base was and how iconic the two planes were, Just as a mark of respect they should be looked after or turned into some sort of Memorial to all those who fought in the Battle on Britain . Good luck with your request. Rob......................rnixartillery.
  3. Thanks Alastair. I know when you are working through a long term restoration that it seems to go on for what feels like forever but its all about preperation and if a jobs to do its worth doing right if you cut corners you will end up regreting it later ! The limber carries 16 trays each carrying two rounds ,32 rounds in total. Pics attached Rob.......................rnixartillery.
  4. Looking Good Tony ,Brent Mullins in the states has quite a few parts for the greyhound and sells parts regularly on e-bay. Rob...................rnixartillery.

  7. Hi Tim How are things with you ? vehicles................naa, I've given those up .too much maintenance involved :nut: I have two 25 pdr's and limbers here at the moment but I have a very special project I am puting together which will be a one off ! if I can muster the parts. :cool2: Rob...................rnixartillery
  8. Well, went for the final push today and managed to paint the limber.turned out to be a bit of a twat to paint because of the amount of angles and surfaces and I think it took about four hours so I am hoping I got it all :undecided:. It has turned out to be quite a task with this one partly due to the unforseen work involved and the fact that the limber really was in such poor condition, but taking into account how rare these limbers are becoming I think it was worth the effort even though I am doing the work for charity. Hopefully it will be completed in a couple of weeks and returned to its owner and then I have it all to do again on the next limber..........oh what fun ! some pics of the project. 9. Hi Rob Welcome to the club ! My interest also lies in Artillery and I have an M2 105 Howitzer in my collection. If I can help in anyway give me a shout ! Rob.................rnixartillery.
  10. The M3 37mm Anti-Tank gun takes the M6 scope generally but there is some confusion wether the M45 was fitted,I have seen pictures of this sight being fitted to a rifle although I don't think it is correct. The best place to find out would be on G503. Rob.....................rnixartillery
  11. Looks like a home made job to me !, I have a crate full of Artillery tow lights of all nationalities but non as crude as that . Rob......................rnixartillery.
  12. Stu,the manuals are available as reprints, below is the last halftrack that I restored which I sold to Marcus Glenn. When I painted it I finished it in free polish forces livery which carried British markings as they fought along side British units throughout the war. Rob......................rnixartillery.
  13. Stuart, these gun mounts are very basic and simple to work on so "Don't panic".I restored another quad mount for an M16 half track a few years ago,the motor that drives the four belts is bolted to a cast plate underneath the turret. This particular plate had been dropped and broke into eight pieces,it took a week on and off to weld it back together a couple of inches at a time. :nut: When it was all assembled it work very well ! Rob.........rnixartillery.
  14. Pete, don't worry about the DNA I've got green blood ! give me a shout if you are up this way and I will put the kettle on. I have been meaning to get the Quad Polsten out to take a film of that moving but its surrounded in a ton of other green crap so it will be on my list of jobs to do ! :undecided: Rob......................rnixartillery.
  15. Thanks Enigma,do you know if this is a privately owned collection ? Rob.................rnixartillery.
  16. I am trying to locate a private military museum about 10k north of Arnhem..........any ideas ! I have been told it is near the "Drop Zone" and possible known as the 39-45 museum. Any leads appreciated. Rob..................rnixartillery.

  20. Oh no,you did'nt get it wet did ya Pete ! Nice one,I bet a few people sh*t themselves when that went off :-D. Managed to do a bit to my old dog ! Rob................rnixartillery.
  21. Thats right, the limber carried 32 rounds of 25 pdr projectiles + cases and a collection of kit in the front limber tray, some limbers also carried a firing platform and a spare hub on top so it would be very heavy alone with out the gun being attached. I have read that they regularly had to replace the tow hooks on the quad and limber through excessive wear. I will try and get some snaps of the 6 pdr kit I have and upload it on my 6 pdr thread. Rob.................rnixartillery.
  22. I managed to get the limber in to the sandblasters a couple of weeks ago and it typicaly decided to piss down when I had to collect it so it was touch and go getting it back home nice and dry. The guy did such a good job basting it I had a job getting it sealed up with primer, could do with a paint gun that sprays around corners ! Anyway I managed to steam on with the project so I have welded the new floor section in and started to re-assembly the limber from the large pile of parts.Fitted the new wheel arches aswell so things are "looking good",when this one is done I have the whole process to do again..................Oh what fun ! Rob...................rnixartillery.
  23. Very Nice,Just the right size also ! Where are you located ? Rob.........................rnixartillery.
