  1. Piet, I think that's right, a normal widetrack is 1.67m wide. They are heavy when complete. Chris
  2. There are some good 432/30 photos here... http://m136.de/wordpress/?p=5759&album=63&gallery=452
  3. Paul, They have around 50 of them, so you should be able to find a good one! Chris
  4. Sorry to correct you, but it is a Chieftain! Compare it to the one next to it.
  5. Ah the Fox handbrake. Changing the bands is good fun, and involves removing the drive flange from the bevel box. We had to make a tool to do this. I still have a stock of spare brake bands, but I think they are all the same side.
  6. I wouldn't fit bar grips, I don't like them and I don't think they'd look good. I prefer the Continental type tread, such as the Danubianas I have on mine. The Petlas Andy has look good too.
  7. There's a set of Trakgrips on Milweb at the moment. A Ferret is not heavy, how much does a fully loaded 101 weigh? You won't have a problem with any 9.00x16 tyre which you fit.
  8. There are still thousands of Bedfords (TM and MJ) to come through Withams.
  9. They already have rubber track pads, road legal lights and mirrors.
  10. Get it insured, go to the local DVLA office with the release paperwork and fill in the V55 with all required details. Pay the registration fee and hopefully walk out with a free tax disc!
  11. Clive, I have one of these too. You need to unscrew the needle attachment, the spring then fits on the threads that hold the needle attachment on. Chris
  12. I didn't know Vince drove the bin lorry on weekends...
  13. Clive, You can use this stuff... http://www.hammerite.com/uk/products/usage/ug_special_metals_primer.html But you'll need to paint the parts, or did you want them to be silver? Chris
  14. Ignore him, buy one, you can always sell it if you need to.
  15. Try writing to: ES (Land) Cencus Team Chetwynd Barracks Chilwell Nottingham NG9 5HA And see what they say. They should be able to send you the record cards. Let me know if you make a useful contact, this place is just down the road from me. Chris
  16. That looks to be in very good condition, how old is it?
  17. Mick, Your best bet is to just fit the ANR boxes, and use modern headsets with green pressel boxes. Black pressel boxes will not work on ANR systems. The Commanders Box Fixed is designed to be used with the Commanders Personal Unit in your photo. This box has a 7 pin plug and a 10 pin plug. The idea is you can control the box from the bit hanging round your neck, useful for changing radios etc when busy in the vehicle. They are quite heavy and although I have a CBF in all my vehicles, we normally just use a pressel box plugged in to the CB2s. There are lots of harness cables around, you may find them at shows or try asking the dealers who sell the boxes. Usually AFVs are surplused with the intercom and harness cables in place. You may also find that the dealers want to hang on to them so they can sell complete systems. I have some spare ones I could sell, let me know what length you need and I'll see what I have. When I did my Ferret I could only find some short cables, so I unsoldered the 12 pin plugs and soldered them back on some 12 core cable from Maplin. Not a nice job! Chris
  18. Shaun, I think you have a Scimitar not a Semitar? Welcome to the forum. Chris
  19. We had a pipe with a pinhole leak in it. It was fine untill the revs were increased and then it started spirting out. It's now replaced with a hose.
  20. I looked at this before it went on the auction, it was a bit rough all round. It had thick peeling paint which had been sprayed over, all the road wheel rubbers were sprayed green too, bent bins etc etc. It did have Messier dampers though, and was definitley a better buy than a Belgian one from Marcus.
  21. Hi Glenn, I was in Cincinnati a few months ago and really liked it there. Welcome aboard! Chris
  22. All of the ones which were built, which is approx 50!
  23. Adrian, I had the DVLA guy come to me, it was not expensive but it did take approx 2 months for them to process my booking and then come and do the test. They take the money straight away too, which is a bit cheeky. Luckily the examnier was ex-army and the test went well. I wouldn't do it in the winter, I'd wait to the spring. If you're doing it on the roads you'll need a nice dry day, the 45min test would not be fun on a dull rainy day. Chris
  24. Clive, An FV421 still exists, I once met a guy who had one which was rescued form the Tank Museum. I've not heard from him for a long time, but he was planning on restoring it. Chris
