  1. Stone, I doubt any of us have access to the Merlin database, you'll need to find someone who does. You could join the EMLRA and then get it done through them? Chris
  2. No, 285 is Nato green. That is deep bronze green.
  3. ZKent_1431 Daimler Ferret Mk 2/3 ZKent_1673 Range Rover ZKent_1488 Daimler Armoured Car
  4. Mark, The chassis is the same as a 3/4 ton wide track, there are slight differences depending who made it. The body is exactly the same dimensions too. Chris
  5. Matt, They were never (as far as I know) fitted to Ferrets in service. You can retro fit one, as some owners have, by connecting a 24volt beacon to the auxilary power connector on the distribution box. This is the small 2 pin plug near to the inter-start connector. I have driven thousands of miles in mine without a beacon, technically driving at motorway speeds in a Ferret with the beacon going is illegal anyway. Chris
  6. Hi Tim, No photos of any trucks, just tractors...! Chris
  7. Tim, We were at the Newark show last year on the Sunday. Those are our vehicles in the magazine. It was quite disappointing. It rained heavily all day and we were stuck outside in the middle of nowhere on our own. The tractors were in nice heated sheds. Eventually it got dark and we had to drive some 40 miles home in heavy rain with a Saladin, Ferret and CVRT Sabre. We have decided not to go this year. I do not remember seeing a Great War Truck, but will have a look at the photos. Chris
  8. Why would you register it as a mobile project vehicle and limit yourself from doing what you like with it? I would get a good one with canvas, hoops and drop sides. Take these bits off and store them (it will be hard to find them should you want to in the future) and get a good box body to go on the back.
  9. Niel, That's quite different to the standard B series one. I don't have one, but will keep a look out. Chris
  10. Look in the yellow pages for fastners suppliers. You might find the smaller back street ones are much more helpful. Chris
  11. Mark, You need a copy of this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chieftain-Rob-Griffin/dp/1861264380 The author is a good guy, I have his email address (think he may even be on here?) which I can give you. In the back of the book is a table of all the reg nos and what happened to them. I'm sure he'll be able to fill you in on some of the history for yours too. Chris
  12. You can get imperial nuts and bolts in stainless, I'd keep it as original as possible.
  13. Not mine I'm afraid.

  14. It's like an orange flashing beacon, but visible through night vision devices. I have the fitting kit for a Spartan, they were issued in Bosnia.
  15. I think it would be faster towing the Matador with the Stolly!
  16. Mike, Yes all variants including Samson and Spartan are fitted with this, but there is a gauze filter which gets clogged very quickly. As for the pads being easy to get at, they are not too bad, it's just a shame I can't locate a commercial equivalent part so have to pay dealer prices Chris
  17. Jack, They are designed to get wet, but not be submerged for any length of time. The gearbox bay of a CVRT is open to the elements at the top, but sealed at the bottom, so they tend to fill up with water. The water picks up any oil or hydraulic fluid which has leaked onto the floor and then coats the pads and discs with it. This is fairly common on CVRTs as if you leave the drain plate off underneath the gearbox then the fan draws air in through there rather than through the radiator and then your engine overheats! Chris
  18. This is what they should do...
  19. Degsy, It did stop, the brakes were actually working, and they would hold it on a hill or on the neck of a low loader no problem! I tried doing an emergency stop and it was not as good as I thought it should be, otherwise I wouldn't have even looked at them! Chris
  20. My Sabre hasn't been stopping quite as well as it should, I thought the pads were probably contaminated with oil or water, a common problem on a CVR(T). This is what I found! Chris
  21. On the 24v ones these are fitted to the seat box near the batteries. I guess they stuck it on the grill of a 12v one to save running the long cables from the seat box.
  22. Iain, Contact details are on the thread. Be aware that they need it for Monday, and since that's pretty short notice, they may have given up already. Chris
