  1. Hi Ian, welcome to the forum. I just bought a '43 GPW in worse state than yours, but it's a long term project. Looking forward to seeing photos. Chris
  2. Duncan, If the date of manufacture is already on the V5 then I don't see why you have to prove it again! My Sabre was built in 1973, to make it historic I just took the v5 to the post office with the taxation class box in section 7 filled in as historic. Walked out with a free tax disc and got a new v5 a few days later in the post. Chris
  3. You might want to try one of these rather than a drill on the next seized bolts: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0001K9R8U/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1409606118&sr=1-1&pi=SX200_QL40#
  4. Head gaskets are the easy bit! http://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=3328 Chris
  5. I bought my 110 Wolf down for the day on Saturday. Never made it to the show before, I'll try and bring something armoured next year!
  6. Watching him lose control and go across the road and take out the hedge on the other side was pretty scary. I was driving the Spartan behind it in the video. He was all over the road, no track pads, no number plates and it looks like no drivers seat!
  7. Not if you had to follow him!
  8. Are the numbers on both types the same? Fox uses the same brakes. Chris
  9. It's a Belgian vehicle painted to look like a picture in a book. VRN is incorrect and it sold to a forum member. Chris
  10. Charlie, Have you got the Merlin report for it yet? That might answer some questions. Chris
  11. There are lots of errors on Wikipedia, one of the cvrt pages says they had Bedford engines!
  12. I've got one. If you are seriously interested you need to arrange to go and view the remaining stock and see what prices they quote.
  13. Round the back, in an annoying place! It's got the same kind of screw in fitting as the ones on the dashboard.
  14. We just swapped all our insurance to cherished vehicle, saved quite a bit too.
  15. The correct flasher unit was used on military Land Rovers so you should be able to get one from somewhere like LR Series or John Craddock. Chris
  16. I will see what I can find. At my parents house I have the Clansman into Spartan manual and it's a good 200+ pages of diagrams. Chris
  17. TUAAM goes on the roof near the antenna bases just inside the back door. ARFAT goes on the triangular radio tray.
  18. PM me your email address and I'll send you some stuff..
  19. I would say if you are afraid of the neighbours taking shots at you, it might be worth moving first? Also fuel consumption shouldn't really be an issue with a tracked armoured vehicle, just keep pouring it in and don't look at the price! It is going to be poor on any of them.
  20. We have had 8 CVRTs over the years and currently run 2 diesels and one petrol. I'd go for the CVRT every time. They are easy to work on, mostly reliable and spares can be found fairly easily. I like the diesel, it has more grunt and you have less worries about ignition systems or overworking the engine. We have a large group of cvrt users here for help and advice. If you buy the French vehicle where are you going to get parts and who will help you out when you need advice? Chris
  21. On the ground. I don't know enough about them to know which one or why you'd need it, but that's what it's for !
  22. John, That is for a coax cable to connect it to a mast. Chris
  23. I own the glove box lid and data plates for the above Jeep. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Is it out there somewhere or has it been scrapped? Thanks, Chris
  24. Try here for plastic plugs/bungs http://www.capxpress.co.uk
