  1. Wide track, the narrow track doesn't have a drop down tailgate.
  2. The steel 432 ones would work, but you'd need to make some adaptors as the towing eyes are much wider on a cvrt than on an FV430.
  3. As you are putting the same gearbox back in the vehicle I don't think there will be to many problems. For info, when I put the engine and gearbox in my Scimitar I borrowed a tool to line it all up. This is because the engine mounts had been removed, and on the diesel they require shimming up. There is also adjustment left and right to worry about on the engine mountings. I assume your alignment tool was something similar Richard? Chris
  4. Measure the distance from the top and bottom of the pulley to the fan bulkhead. It should be the same. If not, add or remove shims until it is.
  5. The CVRT one is aluminium with some steel parts. It is heavy.
  6. I think it's just armoured vehicle technology! This is the engine bay in my Scimitar, base overhauled in 2008 and scrapped in 2011. No idea how they managed to spill so much oil in there! Chris
  7. I've found next to nothing in the last 5 years or so, but like Tim I go to catch up with people I've not seen for a while.
  8. It doesn't matter how clean you get the engine and gearbox bay when you restore it, it will be filthy almost straight away once you start using it!
  9. At the moment the gearbox is nearly impossible to come by, they are worth more than the vehicle! That's not to say in a few years time there won't be loads of them though as that's usually the way it goes. Chris
  10. Chris, Post up what you need on here, I won't be able to help for a few weeks but someone else might be able to give you what you need. Chris
  11. Hi Charlie, Glad to see you still have the Sabre. Chris
  12. Hi Justin, You are within a couple of miles of 5 different CVRT variants, so plenty to look at if you get stuck plus we are always buying and selling bits. Unfortunately you will struggle to get a mantlet. I found one after over a year of looking, on a vehicle which was being scrapped. One will turn up eventually, but you might need to buy a whole vehicle to get one! Chris
  13. There are hundreds of Clansman antennas on eBay..........
  14. Justin, Is it the one on milweb? Chris
  15. Hi, Welcome to the forum. The indicators that you're looking for are standard FV pattern lights used on most British military vehicles from the 50's to the current day, and are still used on lots of in service vehicles. All of the dealers should have them, try Marcus Glenn, Banisters and ebay.co.uk Chris
  16. Robin, That data plate looks like its a replacement, someone has stamped it with individual stamps and it doesn't look as neat as I would expect if it was the original. Chris
  17. Hi Robin, I won't get any time to get it mobile before new year, but hopefully in January. I need to bleed the brakes and steering and after that there's not too much to bolt on before it moves. I hope you have a good Christmas too, and are not too affected by the storms over there! Chris
  18. Video for those who like engine noises... Chris
  19. As with all of these things, the parts will come along eventually if you're patient and keep an ear to the ground. Regarding scrap value, I've seen lots cut up recently and know they must be worth a reasonable amount otherwise the scrap yard wouldn't have bought them and invested a lot of time stripping them bare. Chris
  20. John, They are Spartans with Milan Compact Turrets, made up to look like Soviet vehicles for training in Canada. Chris
  21. Had a good day today, we got the engine running and it sounds really sweet. A couple of weeks ago I spent a few hours messing about in the instrument panel and we were able to get the engine turning over. The fuel pump refused to do anything, so I swapped it for another one. The engine started, ran for a few seconds and then died. Then we looked in the fuel tank and saw this horrible orange mess! It wasn't very deep, maybe an inch or so, but it must have been 75% water, 20% diesel and 5% fungus! Todays job was to empty the tank, clean it out and refill with clean diesel. I put a new filter in, bled the system and now the engine starts on the button. There's a bit more wiring to do as the rev counter doesn't work yet. Next jobs are to get the cooling system sorted, the prop shaft on and the brakes and steering bled and see if it moves. Chris
  22. Try Footman James but there are several companies who insure military vehicles.
  23. I've never seen anything that looks like that on or in a CVRT, Richard is probably right. Chris
